Chapter 1460

Aurora didn’t seem to be brooding over this, for she had probably gotten used to responding toeverything with an air of nonchalance. With a double-handed slap on her thigh, she said, “I need achance to become popular again. I also want to prove that I got into my present state not because myabilities are out of date, but because Bryce had failed me.”

Ian felt even more uncomfortable at the mention of Bryce. Aurora wasn’t the only woman Bryce hadfailed; he had failed many women and several of his children. However, he had no intention ofregretting it so far, nor did he feel that he had sinned against anyone. Instead, he thought he was theone who had been taken most advantage of. He had kept so many mistresses, all of whom had spent alot of his money, whereas his children grew up being admired and lauded to the skies because of hisreputation. He felt he had done enough.

Moreover, Bryce had never suffered any setbacks in his life. The Morgan Group was a family company,a property left behind by his forefathers. As a result, he had lived a life of prosperity since childhoodand was particularly successful in his studies and later in his running of the company. One might aswell say that his life was smooth sailing since everything he wanted would eventually come into hispossession. This resulted in his particularly conceited personality, for he never listened to anyone. Tohim, whatever anyone said was always inferior to what he thought.

Ian was filled with disgust whenever he thought of this. Bryce had done many things in his life that heshould’ve been ashamed of, so why should he be able to enjoy a life blessed with good fortune?

Aurora looked up at Ian. “Now that I have said everything I wanted to say, I have nothing else to hidefrom you.”

Cindy came out of the kitchen just in time—the food was ready after she microwaved it in themicrowave oven. She served the food on the table and said, “The food’s ready.” Not only that, she wasattentive enough to brew a cup of scented tea and served it next to the food.

Aurora came over and looked at the food. “Well, your little girlfriend is quite good at looking afterpeople. It seems that she’s taking good care of you.” She sat down, picked up her cutlery, and took abite. “Hmm, and it tastes good too. Everything about you is good except for your family’s socialstanding.”

Ian didn’t like to hear such a remark from Aurora. “Is her family’s standing that important? Bryce comesfrom a very good family, but how did he treat you?”

Aurora quickly waved her hand. “All right, all right, I’ve put my foot in my mouth. I have no intention oftearing you two apart either. What right do I have to interfere in your relationships? I still have this bit ofself-knowledge.”

Ian looked at Aurora while still leaning on the armrest of his sofa. “I’ll find someone to ask about it foryou. Don’t pin your hopes on me, though. I don’t have many acquaintances, so I’m not sure if I canreally hook you up with jobs. I’m not doing as well as you think I am in show business.” novelbin

Aurora knew Ian had his own troubles, of course. He had been dragged through the mud lately, whichproved that many had been targeting him. If she wanted to make a comeback, she would bring a lot ofcontroversy to him in the future. Even so, she wanted to give it a try, for the entertainment industry waswhere one could make the most money in the quickest way possible. As Aurora was halfway throughher life, she understood many truths that she had stubbornly refused to believe when she was young. For one, she knew how much influence money could have on one’s life. She wouldn’t have beendumped by Bryce so easily when she was young if she had enough assets to match Bryce’s. Men were

materialistic, and Bryce could jilt her without hesitation simply because she had nothing and couldeasily be substituted by others.

If she were also rich and powerful, Bryce wouldn’t have treated her that way. However, it was too latefor her to realize this, for she had used up half of her lifetime. Therefore, she was now eager to make acomeback and earn everything she had missed in her youth.

She wouldn’t say that this was solely for Ian’s sake, but she did make such a decision with Ian in mind.At Ian’s current age, it was already impossible for her to make it up to him emotionally, so the only thingleft that she could give him was things that money could buy. Ian certainly looked down on everythingshe owned right now, so she had to give him more than that.

Aurora ate the meal. One could tell she was truly hungry, for she ate up all the dishes Cindy hadheated up for her.
