Peter had felt both happy and resigned since his niece found someone she loved.
He was happy because he knew that his niece had grown up. Yet, what made him feel resigned was
Max's status.
Although the Thomsons and the Scotts were well off in Capital, they were still a far cry from the four
most distinguished families.
Peter didn't want Lily to marry a man who was much more wealthy and powerful. After all, not any
ordinary woman could be with someone like Max.
Nevertheless, Lily was bent on winning Max's heart. Thus, even though Peter was her uncle, he could
not do anything about it.
Any girl in love would be somewhat irrational. But when she became more mature after a few years,
she would not be so impulsive.
Thus, regarding Lily's relationship with Max, Peter decided to let it run its own course.
