Chapter 642

| was stunned for a moment and my heart skipped a beat. | turned around and saw Shirley with her blonde hair, standing at thedoor. Who knew how long she had been there for?

Compared to when we first met, she had gained some weight; her stomach bulged slightly. Perhaps she was pregnant. Her long, blonde hair was tied up in a bun, her blue eyes stared at me in shock and helplessness.

| got up and called out to her subconsciously, "Shirley!"She looked at me in disbelief as tears welled up in her eyes. "You and Irvin have known each other all this while?"

She looked at Irvin and said in a hoarse voice, "So, the room which you won't allow me to enter belongs to her? The womanwhom you've been doing your best to protect, is her? The woman whom you call out to when you wake up in the middle of thenight is her?"

Irvin frowned and looked displeased. "Who let you in?" He asked, a hint of displeasure and disgust in his tone.Shirley smiled, but her eyes were filled with grief.

"Do you want me to leave? If did, are you going to run off happily with her?"

| pursed my lips. | could hear sounds coming from the leisure lounge. Anne had probably woken up by the ruckus.

| stood up. | had no intention to explain myself. | looked at Shirley and said, "I'm sorry. It was inappropriate for me to be here. |have my own family and children, and | have someone that | love."

After that, | turned around and walked into the lounge. Anne was already awake. She scrambled her tiny body out of the bed, herfluffy hair slightly messy.

When she saw me, she ran towards me before she could even stand firmly. "Mommy, did you get into a fight with other peoplebecause of me?"

| was stunned. | shook my head and picked her up. "No, Anne, it has nothing to do with you. It was a talk among us adults."

She seemed to be blaming herself. She buried her head into my chest and said with a muffled voice, "Mommy, did | cause you alot of trouble?”

| shook my head, feeling a little distressed for her, but also a little lost. | brought Anne back to Jarold City to give her a promisingfuture. But now, | was not so sure it was the right decision to make. Hadnovelbin

| made the wrong choice?

After leaving the lounge, Shirley was in a foul mood. She looked at me, her eyes no longer as beautiful as they were four yearsago.

"You already have your own family and children, why do you still have to come into his life? Don’t you know how much joy you'vecrushed in my life just by being here?"

Irvin was irritated and looked at her coldly, saying, "Enough! This is the Granger Group, not a place for you to act as you please."

Shirley replied with a sneer, "Do you even know what shame is? Irvin, you're the one who chose to get involved with me first. Youwere also the one who chose to get engaged with me. In these four years, you've destroyed all my hopeful expectations towardsmarriage and love. You've given me the most horrifying of experiences, and now you're complaining that I'm pestering you?"

Shirley's heart-wrenching cries scared Anne, and she hid her tiny self behind me.

| had already said all that | needed to. | didn’t have to be here any longer.

| left with Anne, refusing to participate in their dispute.

Back in my neighborhood, just as we arrived at the door, a cough sounded from the stairwell.

It was a familiar cough.

Anne immediately knew that it was Hendrix. Her face immediately lit up with a smile. "Mommy, it's Mr. Roberts."Then, she let go of me and dashed for the stairwell.

| followed along and saw that Hendrix had just put out the cigarette in his hands. He looked rather pale.

Anne moved fast. She was already hugging onto his thigh and calling out to him.
