Chapter 606

I paused for a moment and smiled. "The reason why he came here to escape wasn't because of me.

He probably had someone in his heart and wasn't sure himself, so he came to visit me."

However, I was a little curious about who the girl was.

With that being said, Hendrix didn't say anything else. He used a spoon to dig out the flesh from the

middle of the watermelon and put it to my mouth.

I was forced to take a bite and said, "I don't like to eat watermelons." Otherwise, Anne would not like to

go to collect crops whenever someone came to visit. She loved having someone eating fruits with her.

As the night deepened, Evan came over. Hendrix stood up and gave Anne a hug. Then, he looked at

me and said, "It's getting late. You both should get some rest soon."

I froze for a moment. "You..." He wasn't staying?

I didn't ask him that last question. If he came, I welcomed him. If he left, I wouldn't keep him here.

Anne tilted her head and looked at him in confusion. "Mr. Roberts, don't you want to stay at our

house?"

With a slight smile, he knelt down beside Anne and said in a gentle voice, "I have something to do. I

will visit you again when I have the time."

Anne nodded her head. She felt disappointed.

He got up and looked at me. With a slight smile, he said, "Go to bed early."

As I watched him leave with Evan, I was quiet for a long time. Then, I brought Anne back into the

house. A day in August was still hot.

Counting the years, Anne was almost five years old.

It was the weekend the next day. When Evan came, I wasn't surprised. However, he carried something

in his hand, which surprised me a little. Those were organic vegetables. There were all kinds of these

vegetables in the courtyard. If Hendrix asked him to send them here, it seemed a little unnecessary.

He knew very well that these things were in my courtyard.

"Mrs. Roberts!" Evan said in a hoarse voice as if he didn't sleep well the night before.

There were black circles around his eyes, which made him look extremely tired.

"What's wrong?" I said as I beckoned him to come in. As he stood there and handed the things in his

hand to me, he said, "Mr. Roberts had been engaged in social activities in Jarold City. So, he has been

drinking a lot of wine these days. The bleeding in his stomach worsened. Last night, he went to the

hotel himself because he was afraid that you would be worried."

I was stunned. I did not say anything. I continued to listen to him as he spoke.novelbin

I pursed my lips, staying nonchalant and casual. "When did he start being like this?"

Taking the dishes from his hands, I said, "I'll head over there later. Give me the hotel key card and have

a break. Your health is the most important."

Seeing that I had agreed, he smiled happily like a child. He handed the key card to me and said, "Okay,

please hurry over soon."

As he walked away, I was lost in thought. During years of separation, some people nursed their

wounds, while others struggled as if they were in hell.

In the eyes of many women, if a man was falling apart because of a woman, then this man must have

loved this woman very much.
