Chapter 604

It was noon.

Yvette took the initiative to walk to my side and said, "Arianna, let's have lunch together!"

Surprised, I took a glance at the time. It was already lunchtime.

Time flew by so quickly.

I wanted to reject her. But when I saw her expectant gaze, I could not utter a word of refusal.

I nodded and said, "Okay, let's go!"novelbin

There were not many restaurants to eat near the hotel. Between fast food restaurants and snack bars,

she chose the latter. Walking into a snack bar, we found a seat and ordered our meals.

She had been looking at me for a long while. It seemed that she wanted to say something but stopped

on a second thought.

I took a sip of tea and did not have any extra emotions.

"Arianna, regarding what I said in the washroom this morning, I'm sorry. I'm very sorry. Please don't

take them to your heart."

After a pause, she added, "And, thank you!"

I nodded and said with a faint smile, "It's really nothing. They are just gossip. I have already gotten

used to them."

She was a little embarrassed, probably because she was ashamed of what she had done. "Why don't

you explain?"

I raised my eyebrows and asked, "Explain what?"

"Your daughter, and your relationship with Mr. Zelson," she said rather seriously.

I smiled and said, "I can't control what the others say. Just let them say what they like to say."

"But if you don't explain it, they will feel that what they have guessed is true." She seemed to be quite

nervous.

I smiled and looked at her with raised eyebrows. "Do you think it's true?"

She was stunned and a little embarrassed. "I think it's true after listening for a long time."

I smiled faintly and said, "I like the natural scenery in Hovell. The reason why I came to Hovell with

Anne years ago was because I wanted to live alone here. I really didn't think too much about it."

"Then how about Anne's father?" she asked curiously.

While the waiter was serving the dishes, I smiled and said, "It's getting late. We still have to go back to

work after lunch."

Hearing this, she stopped asking.

I still had a lot of work to do when I returned to the office. Although the hotel was not very busy, I still

had a lot more to do because I had to do two jobs.

Perhaps it was because I was too immersed in work, I ignored the sudden silence and the occasional

abnormal coughs in the office.

About ten minutes later, I felt a little sore on my shoulder and got up to get some water.

I was startled for a moment when I suddenly saw a man standing behind me. Then I asked, "When did

you come?"

After asking, I regretted it. My tone was too natural and casual. It sounded suggestive of our

relationship if the others heard me.

"It's been a while," said Hendrix, looking at me with warm and gentle eyes. "Go get some water!"

I frowned but kept quiet. I sat back in my seat to finish the rest of the work.

He did not disturb me, but waited quietly for me to finish. After a while, I stopped.

He asked, "You're done?"

I nodded and put away the documents.

"What do you want to eat for dinner?" He did not seem to have noticed the strange gazes in the office

at all.

I sighed silently. This man must have done it on purpose. I was afraid that my fickle temperament

would get even worse.

"I'm fine with anything!" Taking a glance at the time, I noticed it was almost time to get off work.
