Chapter 517

After dinner, Sawyer returned to the company while Hendrix took Anne and I to register her residence

permit.

In the car.

There was something I wanted to say that I held back for a while now. I glanced at Hendrix and finally

asked, "Isn't Sawyer Valerie's biological son?"

I had seen how much Valerie doted on Andrea, but she didn't seem to care much about Sawyer.

He started his car and focused on driving. He replied, "When Sawyer's father married Valerie, Sawyer's

mother had died in a car accident, so Sawyer lived together with Valerie when he was a teenager."novelbin

As a teenager, Sawyer didn't have much affection for Valerie.

"Why did Valerie invite us for dinner?" I asked. Logically speaking, I was the last person she would

want to see.

At the traffic light junction, the car came to a gradual stop. He glanced at me and replied, "Do you still

resent them?"

I was stunned, "What do you mean?" "Do you still resent Valerie and Andrea?" Hendrix asked.

I tightened my lips and subconsciously peered at Anne who had fallen asleep. I couldn't help but say, "I

have no choice but to move past it. I've still got a long way to go in life."

I couldn't let myself stay in the past forever without moving on. Though I couldn't forget about Monique

or my child, the best I could do was not let the past consume me.

Moreover, Andrea and Valerie were not doing well now.

The residence permit registration process was quick and efficient. As Hendrix had been an Ucrebury

resident for years, paired with his good connections and financial stability, there was no issue in

approving the registration.

Hendrix skimmed through the three pages on my residence booklet and said with a smile, "We have a

new member in our family."

When his gaze fell on my registered permanent residence, he frowned and asked, "Has your registered

permanent residence always been in Hovell?"

I nodded, "When I got married, Grandpa told me to move, but I thought that if I did, my grandmother

would be left all alone."

He raised his eyebrows, "Doesn't Aaron have the same registered permanent residence?"

I shook my head, "When his father sent him there, he was already grown. He was fostered at

Grandma's house. Later, when the Reid family sent people to look for me, they took him away. Perhaps

his registered permanent residence has always been the Reid family's house since the start."

He narrowed his eyes, "The Reid family is so powerful in Jarold City. Haven't you ever thought about

why Aaron's father didn't let him be fostered by someone with better financial stability, and chose your

grandmother instead?"

"Perhaps the situation required him to do so at the time." Nobody could be sure because this happened

more than twenty years ago.

He curled his lips and got into the car with Anne in his arms. He set his eyes on Anne gently and

spoke, "Would a lonely old woman who lived in a small county town know of the young master of the

Reid family in Jarold city? Would she have known that he is a famous businessman in Ucrebury?

Arianna, do you think this was a coincidence?"

When I got into the car, I frowned. I had always wondered about how my grandmother knew Master

Roberts. When she brought me out of Hovell, she had told me that Master Roberts was her deceased

friend.

I didn't think much of this at the time. However, now that I did think about it, it was true that Grandma

had spent her whole life in the small county town of Hovell. So, how could she possibly get acquainted

with Master Roberts, who had been in Ucrebury, or even Aaron's father for that matter?

I couldn't help but feel that this didn't make sense. However, even if I wanted to get to the bottom of

things now, I couldn't because Grandma had already passed on.

"These are all matters of the past. Even if we were to try to dig things up, there's nothing much to be

discovered. It's getting cold, we should hurry up and get Anne back home!" I said.

He grunted slightly and did not say anything else.

I figured that Anne might not immediately get used to being moved to Flora Hill, so after discussing with

Ian, it was agreed that I would take Anne to Flora Hill during daytime and send her back to Bronze

Residence at night.

After a long and busy day, it was already very late when we returned to Flora Hill.

I was feeling a little sleepy. As soon as I opened the car door, Hendrix didn't even give me any chance

to relax as he immediately carried me out of the car.
