Chapter 508

I shook my head. I'm not sure. Perhaps, he will stay in Jarold City."

She mumbled back her reply, "He did say that he would come to Ucrebury to celebrate the New Year,

but why..."

I didn't probe her any further. I checked the time and noticed that I should be getting ready to board the

plane. I bid her farewell and then made my way to my gate.

Once I got off the plane, I saw Ian waiting for me outside the airport. We got in the car and as soon as

he started the engine, the nagging began.

"Can't you turn your phone off the next time you and Hendrix get into a row? You totally made me look

like a weirdo, don't you think that would be awkward for me?"

I puckered my lips and my face was a little hot. "Sorry, I won't do it again."

He looked sideways at me and narrowed his eyes. "Have you taken contraceptive measures?"

When it came to the topic of children, I was particularly sensitive. My body stiffened as I answered,

"Yes!"

He nodded and said, "That's good. Don't get pregnant again. Your body is not fit for pregnancy now.

Also, I'm taking you somewhere later after sending you back."

"Where are we going?"

"To see the doctor. You had hemoptysis last time, and the doctor said that although you've regained

consciousness, it was still very serious. If this matter happens frequently, your life is at risk. I've visited

a highly experienced doctor. Let me take you to see him," he said while driving.

Glancing at my face, he asked, "Have you been staying up late for the past few days?"

I pursed my lips and pinched between my eyebrows. "I've got insomnia!"

It was a chronic illness. If it can be cured at once, I would definitely do as what the doctor tells me to.

But at the end of the day, it didn't change the fact that it was still a chronic illness. I didn't really want to

waste my time curing it as I was all out of patience and energy.

He sighed. "If you and Hendrix really can't do this anymore, you can split up for a while. You can cure

your illness first. It's not a good idea to delay it."

"He doesn't want to divorce!" As soon as I finished speaking, he suddenly braked. There was a red

light in front of him.

He turned to look at me, wide- eyed. "Are you crazy? Why would you want to divorce him? He is rich,

handsome and has a good figure. Have you got too much time on your hands or have you grown sick

of the good life?"

I peered at him angrily, "Since he's so great, why don't you be with him?"

I was taken aback by his tone, which didn't sound right to me. I couldn't help but looked at him and ask,

"You have someone you like, don't you? Who is it?"

Ian was speechless. "Even if I liked someone, do you think getting together is a walk in the park?"

"Which family is she from? Are you guys dating already? How long have you been together, and how

did you know each other?" I asked him.

His mouth was left agape at my never- ending questions. The traffic light turned green and he steppednovelbin

on the pedal as he replied, "Can you ask properly? You're a woman. Why are you being so nosy?"

"I'm nosy because I'm a woman!" If I was a man, why would I ask so many questions?

He coughed, "You'll find out in the future."

I replied with a simple 'oh' and stopped probing.

Even though I was not willing to go, Ian still insisted that I see a doctor when we arrived in Ucrebury.

No one wanted to be dragged around by others all day long and being told that they were sick.

Therefore, after procrastinating with him for a while, he finally compromised and took me back to

Bronzy Condo. He did not go to the place where Monique used to live.

Instead, he went to another building. Carrying my suitcase, he spoke as he entered the elevator, "The

house here is not as large as the villa at Flora Hill, but it's cozy and it's more convenient for me to take

care of Anne here."

I nodded. I felt an unspeakable pressure and tension in my heart. Perhaps he noticed my discomfort

because he raised his hand and patted my shoulder. He encouraged, "Don't be so nervous. Anne is

very well-behaved and she's very easy to take care of!"

I pressed my lips together and hummed in response, but the nervousness still grew within me.

When we arrived at the door, my palm was sweaty. He pressed the doorbell, and Sawyer came to open

the door. He was wearing an apron with a milk bottle in hand.

I was surprised to see him like this. He, on the other hand, looked calm and collected when he saw me.

He greeted, "Come in, food's ready."

Ian looked at me and said, "Get your hands washed, then well go see Anne. We'll eat after that."

He brought my suitcase in and placed it in a room. He then said, "Stay with us for a few days."
