Chapter 330

Irvin interrupted her, "Mom, you said you won't question it no matter who I came with today. I have my

own life to lead, and you'll respect me, right?"

Parents would always compromise endlessly in front of their children. Helen clearly hated Nerissa and

despised the Roberts family to the core.

But now, she had to bear with me, who was the daughter- in- law of the Roberts, for the sake of Irvin.

Sighing softly, she glanced at me and said with a frown, "As long as she doesn't cause any trouble."

Irvin smiled and led me into the hotel lobby.

There were not many people in the hall. There were cakes and drinks on both sides of the table. The

two elders of the Miller family chatted with the newly arrived guests in the side yard.

The two elders were thrilled when Irvin pulled me forward to greet them. Perhaps that they were this

excited because they hadn't seen their grandson in a long time.

The old man, who was nearing a hundred years old, seemed to be in high spirits.

"Irvin, this girl you brought with you looks so beautiful. Which family is she from?" Anthony asked while

looking at me with curiosity in his eyes.

Pulling me forward, Irvin smiled and said, "Grandpa, she's the project director of my company. She's

my date today."

"Ah, a girl from the company. You're not young anymore. It's time to think about your future. Don't delay

too much." Sophia, Irvin's grandmother said.

Irvin nodded. He looked at the two elders and said, "Grandma, Grandpa, I'll go and greet the guests

with Mother. Arianna will stay and keep you guys company."

The two elders nodded, indicating that he could go.

As soon as Irvin left, Sophia pulled me to sit beside her and asked, "How old are you?"

I smiled faintly. "I'm twenty-six!"

"Are you married?" Elders seemed to care much about the younger generation and what they were

doing. I smiled and said, "Yes, Grandma!"

She was surprised to hear that. She glanced at Anthony, who was standing beside her, and said with anovelbin

smile, "The older Irvin is, the harder it is to figure out what's on his mind."

Anthony smiled and looked at me. "How is your name spelled?"

I smiled faintly and replied politely.

The old man nodded thoughtfully and said, "That's a good name. Very novel."

I smiled and said, "That's so sweet of you to say."

His turbid eyes lit up a little as he said, "Irvin intends to introduce you to us. I guess you are the woman

in his heart."

"You old geezer, what are you talking about?" Sophia said sarcastically. "I'm sure you know everything,

and can see everything."

Anthony smiled and said, "The younger generation's affairs have their own destiny. If we can see what

will happen and don't inform them or guide them well, we will cause a delay in their affairs."

Sophia snorted. "Sure, Mr. Know It All!"

Although I couldn't really understand what the two elders were talking about, it did sound rather

interesting. They were nearly a century old, their children led happy lives and their spouses who could

still swear and laugh. This was truly a blessing.

How many in this life could have what this couple did? Most people would part ways halfway through

their lives, and spend the rest of the other half trying to forget their painful past.

At first, I didn't understand why Irvin asked me to keep the two elders company, but after a while, I

realized that every guest who joined the event had to greet the two elders.

Some people would come chat with the two of them, and some would be curious as to who I was just

by standing next to them. The two elders would then help introduce me to the guests.

And I eventually knew all the people who had come to visit.

Pedro came with Valerie. The two middle-aged couples, who were more than 50 years old, looked well

and sharp. The man was poised and dignified, while the woman was gentle and elegant. They would

be what people called an ideal match.
