Chapter 1604

But Hendrix had no intention of compromising as well.

"What I can tell you is still the same. You have no right to question the decision made by the highestauthority."

Rowane snorted in disbelief. "I have no right to question? Is this the answer you're giving me? Youreally think my subordinates will be satisfied with this?"

Rowane graduated from abroad. She made a name for herself in the country's Al industry, whichwas also the reason for her arrogance. It was just that she didn't recognize clearly that the personshe was facing right now was Hendrix, a warrior who was about to enter the world's battlefield.

Hendrix's expression changed drastically as Rowane continued to test his limits. He stood up withone hand banging on the table and turned around to walk up to her front. The distance betweenthem was only the size of a fist, and he fixed his gaze on her in a condescending manner. His darkeyes were gloomy as if he was an evil spirit that had crawled out of hell. With a sinister voice, hewarned, "If you say one more word, I'll make the entire Research and Development

Department disappear as you wish."

That was something Hendrix would do.

Rowane was well aware of how ruthless Hendrix was. She nervously swallowed a mouthful of salivaand avoided his gaze. She picked up the documents in a panic and left in dejection.

Seeing that Rowane had left unhappily, I couldn't help sighing. Hendrix was actually quite agentleman. It was Rowane who crossed the line. If she had spoken nicely, Hendrix wouldn't havespoken so harshly.

They were both doing that for the sake of the company. No one was right or wrong. Rowane'sinnate arrogance was all because she had pride for her reputation. I was worried that Hendrix wouldreally do as he said, so I couldn't help asking him, "Are you serious? Are you going to get rid of theResearch and Development Department?"

Hendrix's expression eased when he heard my voice. He sat down again, picked up his cutlery andsaid as he ate, "Do you think it's possible? I spent hundreds of millions of dollars on it. I'll not let anyof them go if they fail to develop the project."

I laughed. Sometimes Hendrix could be so harsh with his words when he didn't actually mean it. Iasked, "Why didn't you tell Rowane the truth just now?"novelbin

Hendrix paused and turned his head to look at me, saying, "As I said, a technician is not qualified toknow this information."

"Then what about me?" I asked as I put down my cutlery, folded my hands neatly on the table, andlooked at him in an ingratiating manner. I continued, "As a shareholder of Roberts Group, may I askyou, Mr. Roberts? Why would you be so mean to your own research and development departmentand go out of your way to acquire a robotics company from abroad? Can you explain it to me?"

I saw that on Twitter. I was going to ask him anyway, but Rowane ruined the atmosphere in anunfriendly manner.

Hendrix snorted and didn't even lift his gaze. He said in a strange tone, "Roberts Group invests inthe Research and Development Department every two months, and every time it requires nearly tenmillion dollars. Tell me. Don't you think the amount of money invested is no different from burningthem? When did I ever hold back the money invested for the team? Look at their speed. Anotheryear has already passed, but they still have not shown any progress. They've been too comfortable.Reducing their budget will give them some pressure to force themselves to speed up the progress alittle."

I couldn't help laughing. "I see. Mr. Roberts doesn't want to be taken advantage of anymore. Butwhat does this have to do with the acquisition of Eisen Company?"

Speaking of that, Hendrix's expression became a little serious. He put down the tableware beforeexplaining the pros and cons to me.

It turned out that the other companies in Jarold City who weren't happy with Hendrix's power hadn'tstopped harassing them. Not only did they try to stop Roberts Group's projects, but they were alsoplanning to destroy the group's product trading chain.
