Chapter 1504

I sensed some regret in his statement. I paused for a moment and asked, "Do you like Raiya?"

No one could be perfectly fair to everyone. But at the very least, we shouldn't let ourselves down.

He nodded, "She's kind, gentle, cute and sensible. She's very much like a younger version of you.She can be a little stubborn sometimes, yet indecisive at other times. If I were to choose who Iwould spend the rest of my life with, she is an ideal choice. At least I know I won't regret choosingher."

I was astonished. I didn't expect that he would say such a thing. I nodded slightly and stoppedasking. If his choice at this moment was, in his opinion, the best decision he could make, that wasgood enough.

Raiya and Valerie came downstairs. Valerie had given Raiya a piece of jewelry. It was not tooexpensive, but enough to show her sincerity. Coming from a middle-class family, Raiya more or lessknew about jewelry. She seemed to be pleased at receiving such a gift.

After chatting for a while in the villa, dusk had fallen, so Freya took Oliver back home. Zachary saidthat he had a gathering that night and departed as well. Sawyer too left with Raiya.

I wanted to stay with Anne, but all of a sudden, I received a call from Shirley. I hadn't been in touchwith her for so long that I almost forgot her voice.

I picked up the phone and hesitated. Then, I greeted, "Hey, Shirley!"

"Arianna, do you have some time? Do you mind coming out for a drink?" She sounded exhausted.

I nodded and answered without hesitation, "Sure! Where do we meet?"

"I'll send you the address," She replied and then hung up.

I hugged and kissed Anne goodbye. I apologized to her for not being able to stay. Then, I drovestraight to the address that Shirley sent.

I arrived at the bar entrance.

What was wrong with Shirley? Why did she want to get a drink at a bar all of a sudden?

I found her sitting at the very back of the bar dressed in fashionable punk style. She didn't look likea mother of one.

"What's up? Did you miss me or something?" I hadn't seen her for a long time. Her makeup was alittle thick, so I didn't recognize her right away.

Her gaze was hazy. She must have already drunk

quite a bit before I arrived.

"Sit down, let's have a chat!" She said while pulling out the seat next to her for me. She called thewaiter and ordered, "One brandy, thank you!"

I quickly objected, "Give me a glass of juice. No alcohol, please. Thank you!"

She pursed her lips and glanced at me, "You're at a bar but you don't want to drink?"

I raised my eyebrows, "You don't always eat in a restaurant either."

She bowed her head and acknowledged in disappointment, "Right, you don't always get marriedbecause of love either."

I was dumbfounded.

It seemed that it was another relationship problem. I watched as she chugged down a few moreglasses of wine. Then, I asked, "You didn't call me here just to let me watch you drink, did you?"

She drank too hurriedly and choked. Moments later, she laid her head down on the table andsobbed, "I have been working very hard. After so many years, I am not myself anymore. I changedeverything about me to be more like you. Even the things you like and the way you speak, I havelearnt all of them. But why is it still not working out? He still doesn't love me. What should I do?"

I frowned and suddenly realized why she was so upset. Irvin was really capable of torturing aperson. He turned a previously content woman into this mess.novelbin
