Chapter 1487

I took a deep breath to steady myself and gave Aaron a threatening glare. What was wrong withhim?

However, it was Emma's response that stumped me. She simply said, "That's good. We can stayout of each other's way!"

I was convinced.

They were clearly made for each other.

Seeing these two of them acting like this, I felt that Hendrix and my presence was unnecessary, so Itried to come up with an excuse to leave.

However, who would suddenly turn up but Austin, with a woman who looked about 20 years old inhis arms. She was elegant and well-dressed. The clothes and accessories she had on wereexquisite. She looked different from the girls he usually hung out with.

They caught sight of us as soon as they entered the restaurant. From Austin's look, it seemed thathe had come for Hendrix. They greeted us with a smile and sat down at our table. Suddenly, wewent from a party of four to six.

Austin glanced at Aaron and was startled for a second. Then, he greeted him as well. I thought thatEmma would introduce herself, but Austin took a look at her and said with a smile, "Miss Stone, what a coincidence. What are you doing here?"

"I'm on a blind date!" Emma replied. Her nonchalant tone made everyone slightly uncomfortable.novelbin

Austin rubbed his nose, it seemed like he was embarrassed, and the atmosphere turned a littleawkward.

I looked at Austin and said with a faint smile, "Mr. Shelley, why don't you introduce the beautiful girlnext to you?"

Austin smiled and announced, "This is Phoebe Pulin, my fiancee." It was a simple introduction.

I was a little surprised. I had heard through the grapevine that Austin had recently got engaged, butI was still surprised to meet his fiancee in person.

In only a matter of few days, Austin had completely cut off the relationship between Andrea andhim. He had quickly found a socialite to marry. It was frightening how fast he was able to move on.

Phoebe looked at us with a faint smile and said gracefully, "Nice to meet all of you." "It seems thatMr. Shelley has a good eye. Other than a good family background and a good figure, she is alsovery young. No wonder you told my father that we were not suitable for each other!" Emma saidpromptly. Her words stunned everyone around the table.

We were not fools. Upon hearing this, we realized that Emma must have had a blind date withAustin. As to why it had not turned out well, it was probably because Austin wanted a woman with agood family background who was young and pretty as well; hence he chose Phoebe.

What a coincidence!

However, the upper- class community in Jarold City was not that big. There were only a few familieswho would initiate strategic unions. Therefore, it was not surprising to run into each other like this.

I snuck a glance at Aaron to gauge his reaction, but he looked fine. It seemed like he wasn'tbothered at all. It appeared that he wasn't that interested in Emma either.

"Don't be ridiculous, Miss Stone. I'm not that shallow. I don't think the failure of our union was due tosuperficial reasons like this. It's just that I yearn for true love. I dream of settling down with the love

of my life. However, you made it very clear that you weren't interested in love. Hence, I decided thatwe were not suitable, and I conveyed that to Mr. Stone," Austin explained calmly.

Emma didn't say anything more and her gaze remained impassive. I realized then that she wasmerely outspoken by nature, and she had not intended to be rude. She seemed to me as someonewho cared very little about others, much less what they thought of her.

The conversation had become really awkward.
