After some thought, I decided to wait in the car. Without any other plan, I could only call Sheridanfor help.
It was very noisy at Sheridan's end where he answered the phone. "Miss, what's that matter?"
I could sense the panic in his voice. I was struck by a sudden bad feeling. "Mr. Lawson, what'sgoing on at your end?"novelbin
He coughed a few times before he said, "Miss, we were both fooled by John! He trapped us in hisvilla, and the house is now on fire! The situation here is really bad, especially since Mr. Reid haslung disease."
I then panicked and ordered quickly, "I'll get someone to be there right away! Please call the policenow!"
After hanging up, I got down and crouched down next to the car without a second thought. I wantedto storm into the building to look for Evan, but I paused in my step, because I could hear constantfighting coming out from inside. Not to mention, Kaleb was a savage. Life meant nothing to a personlike him.
Before I could enter the Emperor Club, I caught sight of two dead bodies lying next to the burningvehicle. The dead bodies seemed to be the truck drivers. Moreover, the vehicles were still on fire,which meant they might explode anytime.
Fortunately, there weren't many people nearby who would possibly be affected by the explosion.Even so, I'd yet to find Evan, which made me feel a little more anxious. I wanted to call Evan again,but I knew the call wouldn't get through. It didn't take long until the Emperor Club was surrounded
by a team of policemen from special task force units, which made me even more concerned aboutEvan's safety. Things would have ended up in a big mess if he were caught by the police.
On the other hand, I would only be a living, breathing target if I dashed in just like that. Once again,I made a call to Evan's phone, but this time, it finally got through. His voice sounded very alarmed."Mrs. Roberts, are you alright?"
I opened my mouth to respond to him. "I'm alright, you have to hurry up and get out of there! Thereis an army of special forces surrounding the Emperor Club. My father and Mr. Lawson were bothfooled by John, and they are trapped at his house. We have to get there now!" "Alright, but I can'tfind a way to get out from here now. There's a back door. Drive the car over, and I'll meet youthere." He hung up the call as soon as he finished his last sentence.
I looked around and saw the team of policemen coming closer towards my direction. I swiftlyhopped back into the car and started the engine. Just when I was about to drive away, a figureappeared in my line of vision out of nowhere. I almost ran over that person before I stepped on thebrakes.
I was stunned when I looked up and had a clear view of that person. "Westin, how did you..."
He hurriedly got into the car, his body covered in blood. He screamed, "Go now!"
I swiftly drove the car away before I could give a second thought. With all my effort, I steered the carand left the scene at once. I looked over at him and asked, "What are you doing here? Are you stillworking with Kaleb?"
At that moment, I noticed he was wincing. There was a visible injury on his arm that couldn't behidden under his clothes.
"I'll take you to the hospital now!"
"No, I can't go!" his face was pale.
It was then I realized that the police would have gotten to him as soon as he stepped foot in thehospital. As soon as they discovered that the injuries were gunshot wounds, he would become thebiggest suspect.
With this in mind, I couldn't do anything except take him along to meet Evan.
I wasn't surprised to see Evan's scowl when he saw Westin. In a swift motion, he held a knifeagainst Westin's throat, demanding to know what was going on.
I tried my best to explain to him while we headed to John's villa. The firefighters and ambulance hadarrived at the scene. Pedro was being carried into the ambulance when we got there.
I caught sight of Sheridan and immediately asked him, "What happened? How could John set hisown house on fire?"
