Chapter 1450

One of the receptionists helped Pedro to his room while the other assisted me with the check- inprocedure.

"Bam!"

A sudden noise came from outside, causing both of us to look over at the scene. Everyone wasdazed for an instant, especially the receptionist as she glanced at me and said apologetically,"Excuse me, Miss. Please hold on for a moment!"

She then hurried out of the hotel to have a look. It seemed that the glass window had been brokeninto pieces by something. The receptionist began an argument with the perpetrator. While waitingfor her return, I quickly took my chance and looked around, but found no basement entrance. Thishotel didn't have an underground parking lot. Thus, it made sense that it would have a basementinstead. The question was, where was the entrance to it?

If what Susan said was true, how did she find the basement entrance?

After some thought, I realized that the entrance could be located in Bobbie's office. There shouldn'tbe anyone around at this hour. I walked towards the receptionist and told her that I'd be heading upto my room for now and that she could settle her situation first before we continued with the check-in process.

As she was busy, the receptionist did not have much time to talk and instead nodded at me. Aftertaking a swift glance at the person who broke the glass window, I then turned to the elevator.

From what I'd heard from Susan, Bobbie's office was on the top floor. I was caught by surprise withthis odd circumstance, a manager having an office on the highest floor. Usually, only the bosseswould have their office on the top floor.

I didn't spend much time dwelling on this matter and took the elevator directly to the top floor. Therewas no office to be found even when I got to the top floor, but surprisingly, I discovered that therewas another floor above.

"Mrs. Roberts!"

Evan appeared in front of me, which gave me a great shock. I was stupefied for a second when Isaw him standing at the elevator entrance. I asked, "What's wrong?"novelbin

He frowned in an instant. "This elevator probably leads to the basement entrance. But it's controlledby a fingerprint security lock, which we can't open."

I was stunned for a moment. "Then how did Susan find out about it?"

After a moment of hesitation, I then recalled the child, Yonas. He seemed to have been working atthe Emperor Club for a long time now. Since Susan hadn't been here long, she couldn't havediscovered such a secretive place in such a short period of time. There was only one explanation. Itmust have been Yonas who told her about it. He had been here for so many years. He must haveknown about it!

"Come, let's get out of here first!"

Evan then paused for a while before asking, "Are we leaving just like that?"

I nodded. "Sebastian is now in Oakland, while Bobbie is too busy dealing with his wife's accident atthe moment. All we need to do right now is find Yonas as soon as possible. It has been days sinceyou've contacted John. Get in touch with him, he might know something."

Evan nodded and left immediately.

After that, I found Pedro's room and left the hotel together with him, citing too much noise as anexcuse.

Back in the hospital, Anne was recovering from her surgery under Valerie's care. We were relievedto know that everything was progressing so smoothly.

I tracked down Susan's whereabouts in Asherton. She was living with Abby in a small house locatedin the rural parts of the city. She didn't seem surprised by my sudden visit. She was squatting nextto the induction stove, preparing food. The tiny unit was filled with smoke, as there was no exhaustsystem in the kitchen.

"The living conditions here aren't that good. I'm sorry!" Susan said as she coughed. She then placedthe dishes on a folded wooden table where Abby had been waiting patiently, holding a small stool inher hands.
