Chapter 1386

I did not notice that something was amiss with Hendrix while we were heading back to the villa. As Iwas about to head upstairs to take a shower, he sat on the sofa and said bitterly, "So, you neverconsidered telling me, huh? Aren't you aware that this hurts my feelings?"

I was stunned for a moment. When I looked over at him, I saw him giving me a resentful look. "No,that has never been my intention," I replied. "I wanted to tell you after discussing with my parents."

He looked at me and said, "Why didn’t you tell me then?"

I was exasperated. This man was acting like a kid. "Yes, I'm going to Asherton. I did take intoconsideration what dad said this morning. I know it doesn't sound convincing, but I can't afford to letAnne wait any longer. So I decided to go to Asherton to find out more about organ trading. If Imanage to find matching bone marrow for the transplant, we needn't keep worrying."

He pursed his lips and scowled at me. "Are you going alone?" he said.

I nodded. When I saw his disgruntled look, I could not help but ask, "Can you take a few days offwork though? Or do you have a lot of work to attend to?"novelbin

He frowned and said, "I'll come along."

I wanted to decline but I held back, knowing that he would not agree. I nodded and said, "Alrightthen, let's go there together."

Still feeling a little sleepy, I then went upstairs to take a shower, just as Hendrix happened to receivean incoming call.

I had wanted to meet up with Wendy before heading to Asherton, but to my surprise, Hendrix wokeme up early the next morning for he had booked the air tickets.

Winter was the best time to sleep. I was half-awake as I sat on the bed. I could hear him talkingabout the things to bring for our trip to Asherton, but I was miles away as I listened. I waited for himto pack up. When he saw my sleepiness, he leaned closer to me and asked, "Shall I carry you tothe bathroom then?"

Still feeling drowsy, I opened my eyes and stared at him. Bewildered, I asked, "Why are we going tothe bathroom though?"

He could not help laughing. "Aren't you supposed to freshen up before going out?" he said. "Youcan'

t go out looking unkempt, can you?"

I nodded and said sleepily, "Alright, freshen up." As I got out of my bed, he carried me to thebathroom. I leaned on his shoulder and let out a few yawns.

I said, "Why the hurry though? I intend to go in a few days. I've actually planned a get-together withWendy. It surprises me that you want to head over to Asherton so abruptly. I have yet to inform herof this change."

Since I was still feeling drowsy, he had no choice but to wash my face for me. I closed my eyes andenjoyed the feeling of the warm water on my face. At this moment, I was feeling a little awake. Heset me down on the counter. Then, he squeezed a dollop of toothpaste on my toothbrush and said,"Well you can arrange to meet her another day. If we’re able to find a matching bone marrow, isn't itbetter if the transplant can be performed as soon as possible?"

I nodded. He handed me the toothbrush. My drowsiness had subsided at this point. "Yeah, you' reright," I said. I got up and leaned over the sink to brush my teeth. He then brushed my hair with awooden comb. I felt a little uncomfortable and snorted a few times. "I'll do it myself later," I said.
