Yana was stunned by his awkward confession of love. As she held the hand warmer, she burst intolaughter, "Ethan, what are you doing? My friend's around. Can’t you exercise a little self-restraintand only say such things when no one's around?"
Ethan felt a little embarrassed and was blushing while scratching his head. He looked at Yana andsaid, "I have to explain myself lest you misunderstand me."
Yana stifled a giggle. She looked at him and said, "Come on, start driving! We’re hungry."
As I observed the couple, I could not help but feel that I was being a third wheel.
Ethan was indeed giving Yana the love and security she needed. If a guy truly loved a girl, he wouldgo to great lengths to explain his feelings so that there was no misunderstanding. He would doanything to protect the girl and ensure she was well cared for at all times...
As we made our way to a restaurant in the city center, Yana looked at me and said, "Hendrix shouldhave gotten off work by now. Why don’t you call him up and ask if he'd like to join us for dinner?"
I had almost forgotten about this! My phone was on silent mode. As I unlocked it, I saw many textmessages from Wendy. Then, I proceeded to call Hendrix.
The call was connected quite quickly, but it was Estella who answered the call. She said politely,"Madam, Mr. Roberts is in the conference room. He'll be done with the meeting in a bit. Should I gethim to call you back or would you like me to pass a message?"
"It's okay, just get him to call me back," I said before hanging up.
Baffled, Yana looked at me and asked, "Is he still busy?"
I smiled and nodded, "Yeah. He's in a meeting."
We went into the restaurant and got ourselves a seat. Then, I read through Wendy's text messages.
"I've been busy with work!"
"After I'm done with that, let’s arrange to meet up."
Soon after that, she sent another text message.
"You're still yet to find a suitable kidney donor for your daughter?"
"How old is she?"
"Are you planning to ask for Sebastian’s help?"
After reading through her text messages, I replied, "Is there something important you know about
Sebastian?"
Yana handed the menu over to me and said smilingly, "Feel free to order to your heart’s content.Ethan's going to treat us. Just go all out!"
I beamed at her as I put my phone on the table. It was a fusion cuisine restaurant, and I was notfamiliar with many of the dishes. Hence, I simply ordered some sushi. Just as I handed the menuover to Yana, she looked at the entrance and asked, "Arianna, is that Hendrix's aunt, Nerissa?"
Following her line of sight, I was stunned to find that it was indeed Nerissa. I had not seen her in awhile and she had changed a lot. She looked particularly young in her pink overcoat with her hairtied back.
Yana looked at me and asked curiously, "Do you know the man she's holding on to?"
I shook my head. That man was likely in his fifties. Skinny and tall, he was clad in luxury items. Hehad on a pair of black spectacles that made him look very academic.novelbin
"I think I know him!" Ethan said while looking at the menu. "If I’m not mistaken, he's ProfessorJarred Milton from Jarold University. He’s a writer who has authored several books. When I was incollege, he was nominated for the Nobel Literary Prize. But I heard that this elderly professor israther taciturn. He's not married. He hails from a rich background and his favorite pastime isgardening."
