Chapter 1241

In the police station, my statement was taken. I was also questioned quite extensively. Theirexpressions made me confuse. When I couldn't stand it anymore, I asked, "what's the matter?"

One of the policemen looked at me and said hesitatingly, "Are you sure that the person you werewith is your husband, and that he was injured and taken away? Was there no one else in the carwith you?"

I nodded and answered seriously, "Yes, I am sure... our tires were flat and we lost control of the car.We almost lost our lives when we crashed. After the car crashed, my husband asked me to quicklyescape. He was taken away by several men in black. They were driving black cars. You can checkthe surveillance cameras!"

The policeman shrugged helplessly. "Sorry, Madam. All the cameras on that street were broken, sowe can only rely on your testimony!"

For a moment, I was so shocked I couldn't utter a word. So it was a premeditated conspiracy?

It was Kaleb. It had to be him!

The police looked at my somewhat ferocious face and said, "Madam, you don't have to be tooanxious. We just want to confirm it, because we found a male body near the crime scene."

A male body?

I was dumbstruck. "How? Who is it?" When I asked those questions, my voice trembled, and myhands clenched together tightly. I felt my fingers dug into my palms, desperately trying to reduce myfear.

The policeman looked at me and blanched. Perhaps he was worried for me. He drew a deep breathand hurriedly tried to comfort me, "You don't have to worry. If you say that your husband was taken

away, then the body might not be your husband. We took pictures of the body. You can come withus to have a look."

I nodded. My heart in my throat, I couldn't control my trembling hands.

The policeman looked at me and said, "Let's go!"novelbin

The interrogation room wasn't far from that room, but I felt as if I was walking for a lifetime.

Several policemen stood in the other room. When they saw us come in, they questioned thepoliceman who brought me in with a look.

The policeman explained, "I've asked her to come over to take a look at the body we found at thecrime scene. She wants to see if it was her husband."

The policemen nodded and made way for me.

My heart skipped a beat. Fear tortured every cell in my body and I was on the verge of breakingdown. Because the body was sent for autopsy, they only had crime scene photos for me to look at.

I walked closer. My palms were bleeding from having my nails dug into them. I tried hard tosuppress the pain in my heart and looked at the photos on the wall. However, when I had gatheredthe courage to look at the photos, I was confused. I turned to look at the policeman, puzzled.

The policeman faltered. "When we found the body, it had been corroded by sulfuric acid, so wecouldn't visually identify the body. Perhaps if you look at the clothes and accessories on him youwould be able to tell if it's your husband."

I looked back and avoided the unidentifiable face that had been destroyed beyond recognition andconcentrated on the clothes. The man wore a black suit and seemed to be similar in height toHendrix. However, my gut screamed that it wasn't Hendrix.

How could a powerful and dazzling person like Hendrix be gone just like that?
