Chapter 1238

I was surprised to see Kaleb at the cemetery. Like many others there, he was dressed in a blacksuit. His face reflected the atmosphere and weather around us. One could say he was the epitomeof gloom.

Tobias didn't react when he saw Kaleb, instead, he greeted him politely.

As I saw him walking towards Hendrix and me, I subconsciously moved behind Hendrix's back. Iwas truly terrified of that person.

"Mr. Roberts, we meet again. What a coincidence!" he said with a faint smile on his face.

Hendrix looked at him, expressionless, and said, "Yes, we meet again. I thought you had leftOakland."

Kaleb burst into laughter. "Why would I? This is where I will be reborn. If I had left just like that, I'llbe too embarrassed to see you guys in the future."

Hendrix gave him a cold look and made no reply to Kaleb.

A conceited smile appeared on Kaleb's face. "It seems that Mr. Roberts doesn't like talking to mevery much. No matter, well have plenty of time in the future. Let's talk some other time!"

He left right after that.

I heaved a sigh of relief and tugged on Hendrix's sleeve. "Hendrix, let's go!"

Hendrix nodded. He looked at Tobias and wordlessly told him our intention. Then he nodded to meand said, "Let's go!"

I followed closely behind Hendrix and saw a glimpse of Kaleb. His stare sent shivers down myspine. He looked like he was plotting our demise.

Scared, I unknowingly gripped Hendrix's hand tighter. Noticing my reaction, he put his arm aroundmy waist and bent closer to whisper in my ear. "Don't be afraid, I'm here!"

I nodded and walked with Hendrix subconsciously holding my breath.

When we got in the car, I finally let out the breath I was holding. As he started the engine, I askedHendrix, "When are we going back to Jarold City?"

He drove, keeping his eyes on the road. "Tomorrow," he replied. After that, he looked at me andasked, "What did Kaleb do to you in Myanway?"

I shook my head. "He didn't do anything to me. After they took me away, he didn't hurt me becauseof Sebastian, but he was very cruel to Naomi and the others. He treats women like property andmules to Western Europe."

He reached for my hand and looked at me seriously. "Don't ever leave without a word. No matterwhat happens, we can face it together. Don't make a decision to leave, okay?"

I nodded. Noticing that he was still looking at me while driving, I yelped, "Eyes on the road!"novelbin

He smiled and turned to look at the road, obeying my request to drive carefully.

After a moment of silence, he handed me a box. Surprised, I asked him, "What is it?"

"It's from Tobias. He asked me to apologize to you on his behalf," he said as he placed the box inmy lap.

As my hands started opening the box, I paused as I remembered his arrogance. I couldn't helpsaying, "It's rare for a man as arrogant as him to say sorry. What do you he got me? It's notsomething explosive, is it?"

Hendrix chuckled, "It seems like he made a bad impression on you."

I pouted. "It's not just bad. It's awful. I..." I paused when I got the box open and saw a phone within. After being stunned speechless for a moment, I said, "He got me a new phone. Pretty considerateof him then."
