Chapter 1231

He let out a mirthless laugh again. "Don't try to scare me. Don't think that I don't know what you allhave done. You rich people should give us more money. Our money was taken away through all ofyour black- hearted means. You guys are just some black-hearted businessmen."

His words didn't make sense at all. I frowned. He had probably lost his mind, and I knew better thanto provoke a madman.

Earlier, I was too busy strolling that I didn't notice that I was at a place with very few people. It wasnot Jarold City, nor was it Asherton. Hendrix had not arranged any bodyguards for me. At themoment, I could only find a way to escape by myself.

"Believe it or not, your sister committed suicide. You know better than me the reason why shecommitted suicide. She was a girl that was encumbered by you and your parents, she had long losther normal life. You are the cause of her death."

He, who had been laughing mirthlessly all the time, suddenly looked at me with his face darkened."You're dead!"

He took out a knife from his coat and he came running towards me. My eyes widened. It allhappened so suddenly that I didn't have time to react.

For a moment, I only felt like falling into despair. I had no ability to escape at all.

Seeing that his knife was getting nearer, my limbs went weak. My consciousness was telling me tododge it, but my body couldn't move no matter how hard I tried.

"Go to hell!" His voice echoed in my ears.

"Eason, how dare you!" The sudden voice of an intruder stunned me. A few seconds later, I heard aman shouting.

After I calmed down and looked back at the man who was approaching me with a knife, I wasshocked. At that moment, the man was on the ground, being beaten up by two men.novelbin

And beside me stood Tobias, who looked at me as if he was looking at an idiot. His handsome facewas cynical.

"You got scared just like that?" He sneered. "I thought Pedro's daughter would be used to this kindof situation. Now I know, she's just a softie."

It was obvious sarcasm so I didn't take it to heart. Being safe and sound, I let out a sigh of relief.

I raised my hand to wipe away the sweat on my forehead. I looked at him and said, "Thank you!"

He didn't bother answering me, just looked at me in disdain.

I knew that he already looked down on my cowardice, I didn't want to get the cold shoulder as well.Hence, I chose to keep my mouth shut.

Eason, who was lying on the ground, was beaten black and blue. He held his head, begging formercy, "It's my fault, Mr. Hayes. I won't do it again. Please stop hitting me, please!"

Tobias glanced at the hatchet men, signaling them to stop.

The henchmen stopped and stood aside.

Tobias narrowed his eyes, walked to Eason, and squatted down beside him. He looked at Easonwith disdain and said, "This is the first, and the last time I'm warning you. Don't touch her.Otherwise, I'll break your hands. Don't you like gambling? If you lose your hands in the future, howare you going to gamble? With your dirty mouth?"

Eason was a pushover. Hearing Tobias' words, he nodded repeatedly and said in fear, "I won't touchher anymore. I was too ignorant to recognize her. I promise it won't happen again. Mr. Hayes, please let me go!"
