Chapter 1175

I shook my head and said gently, "It's okay. I've gone through similar experiences when I lookedafter Anne. Every time she cried, I did not know how to comfort her except nurse her. It was my firsttime being a mother, so I was also at a loss."

Shirley paused for a while, probably not expecting that I would tell her such things. Then, shebowed her head and pursed her lips as if to suppress her emotions. After a long time, she smiledbitterly and said, "I used to think that everything would take a good turn if I had a child for Irvin. However, after giving birth, I seemed to have lost everything, but also gained everything..."

As a mother, Shirley had sacrificed so much and lost everything. But because of her child, she hadgained so much too...novelbin

I smiled slightly and said, "Don't worry, you will gain so much more eventually!"

She was stunned and didn't quite understand what I meant. She looked at me with confusion.

I didn't explain. Seeing that she had comforted the baby, I left my coat on her and said, "You musthave come in a hurry, and hence, did not pack much. I'll go back and pack some warm clothes

for you. The weather will get very cold in the next few days."

"Okay," she said and looked at me for a long time. Then, she stammered uncomfortably, "You andhim, are..."

"Friends!" I said decisively and quickly. "I have my own family. You don't have to regard me as animaginary enemy, and I hope that you and him can get along well."

She looked at me and bit her lips, "Arianna, thank you!"

I shook my head and smiled, "You don't have to thank me. I owe him too much."

Coming out of the hospital and getting into the car, my heart was still filled with panic. Could mentruly be loyal? They were able to neglect their wives for the sake of another relationship!

I packed some warm clothes and daily necessities from the villa. Then, I went to the restaurant, ordered some nutritious food, and brought them over.

At the door of the ward.

I heard heart- wrenching screams coming from inside. It sounded like the voices of a child and awoman, and Irvin's furious rebukes.

As Irvin's ward was a private ward, he did not share the room with other patients. Florence didn'tseem to be inside either.

"Well, I won't bother you. I won't pester you. I want nothing. I'll go now!" Shirley opened the door, looking devastated. When she saw me, she was stunned and wiped away the tears on her face. Her anger did not dissipate. She looked at me and shouted loudly, "Are you happy now?"

Seeing her leave in tears, I looked into the ward. Dannie was crying in his pram, and his voice wasturning hoarse. Irvin's face was sullen and full of anger.

I pursed my lips and entered the room with the things I had brought. Silently, I placed everythingdown.

Cradling the baby in my arms, I coaxed him as if he was Anne. Although I wasn't his mother, cradling him had a comforting effect.

After a long time of coaxing, the little baby finally stopped crying. He looked at me with a pair ofwatery eyes, and seemed a little confused.

Florence then came in. Probably when they had a quarrel just now, she opted to leave them alone. After all, it was a family issue. It wouldn't be nice for her to get involved.

She glanced at me and I handed the baby in my arms to her and said, "Mrs. Granger may bedownstairs. Could you help me send these things down? She might not have eaten anything yet, tellher to have some of this food."

Florence was stunned for a moment. Then, she took the baby and also the food that I had broughtand left.
