Chapter 1083

Hendrix stopped and propped his head on my shoulder and smiled. Most of the time, we couldn'tfeel happiness as we were striving towards our goals. People imagined happiness to be somethingfar off, something far away to be attained, and they projected that expectation everywhere theywent.

It was the same for everyone. As they envied after others' supposed happiness, others also enviedtheirs.

For about half of the night, I became so drowsy that I fell half-asleep. In a daze, I felt that someoneput something on my finger. I couldn't help muttering as I retreated my hand, asking, "What is it?"

Hendrix's low and deep voice came over, "Our wedding ring!" As he finished speaking, he bit on mylip lightly.

I was stunned and woke up. Then, I got into his arms and kissed him on the lips. I then said in asleepy voice, "We're already an old couple!"

When I left Jarold City, I had left the ring and bank card in the villa. I didn't expect him to have hadthem both with him the entire time.

Under the dim lighting, Hendrix smiled faintly, but his voice was still a little hoarse as he said, "We'rejust thirty. We've just hit our peak, so we're not old at all!"

Then, he turned over and pressed himself on my body. He found my lips and kissed me deeply.

Since the Lancille Village project had been halted, it was inevitable that the following days would bea little idle for both of us.

However, because of that, we became even more anxious.

After Naomi recuperated during that period of time, she was discharged from the hospital. She wentto the Milton Group early in the morning and asked Linda and I out for a meal together.

"It's useless for you two to keep being anxious. Whether the project will resume or not depends onour leader. It's useless for us to keep worrying about it. Why don't we go out for a nice meal andtreat ourselves?" she muttered in the car.

The weariness on Linda's face was obvious, and the makeup on her face was a little cakey. Itseemed that she had been really worried recently.

I was in much better shape. Although Hendrix was quite busy, he still went home every night. Hewould try not to make me stay up too late, and I could get a good night's sleep.

Linda sighed, "I don't want to be so anxious as well, but the longer this project is held off, thegreater the losses are!"

That was indeed the case. The employees on the project numbered up to more than a hundred. Each person's salary was at least five thousand dollars per month. To delay even one more monthwould be wasting a whole month of capital on the employees' salary. No matter how rich the MiltonGroup was, they could not throw money away for fun.

Naomi said, "Why are you worrying so much? After all, it's Mr. Milton who should worry about thosethings, so you shouldn't think about it. Let's calm ourselves down and have a good meal. Don't thinkabout those useless things."

We reached the Ocean Premium Restaurant.

Linda got out of the car and said in surprise, "Miss Attwood, we all know that you're rich, but youdon't have to do this! A meal here would cost us at least a month's salary. Even if you're willing todo this, we would still feel bad about the cost!"

Naomi handed the car keys to the valet and said, "Don't be so dramatic. The places you've eaten atare much more upscale than this. Don't fake it. It's not like I'm not asking for anything back. Youdon't have to act like this."

Linda placed her palms together and coughed. She then said, "I'm sorry, I've just been lackingmoney recently, and I've lost the confidence I had back then."novelbin

Asherton was a second-tier city in the southwest area. Compared to a first-tier city, it was relativelyless busy, but it did not mean that it wasn't equally prosperous.

The Ocean Premium Restaurant, just like its name, was the most exquisite restaurant in the area, and the food was pricey.

We did not enter a private room, but Naomi still seemed quite familiar with the receptionists as shegreeted them.

A waiter went forward to lead the way and brought us to a table. Naomi ordered some dishes andlooked at us, saying, "They mostly serve seafood here. You don't have to worry about getting fat.You should just eat at ease."

At a loss for words, Linda quipped, "Do you really think that we're going to be worried about gettingfat?"

Fortunately, the atmosphere was good, the service was great, and the food was beautiful. After thatmeal, we were all in high spirits.

So, Naomi ordered some red wine for the occasion, and she invited Linda to partake in a glass.

Under the influence of alcohol, Naomi and Linda talked about Sebastian. Naomi was a littlefrustrated as she complained, "It's really meaningless to be in a relationship. To be honest, Linda, Ienvy you very much now. You have your own children, your own home, and you raise your own

children yourself. Although it is a little tiring for you, at least there are no more annoying menbothering you. How good for you."
