Chapter 182

George was rather flustered by this. He was so busy to a point that he could not possibly payattention to every crook and troublemaker in his precinct. The only people that could know this werehis subordinates.

Now that Howard was angry about something that happened in his precinct, George knew he had toget to the bottom of this. He took out his phone and called one of his sergeants. "Sergeant Gould, Iwant all the information on someone named Makson. I need this information sent to me within thenext five minutes!"

At this moment, Jackson Gould was sitting in his office in the Western Precinct. He was ratheralarmed to receive such a call from George out of nowhere. "Yes, sir! I'll go check right now!"

Jackson was both puzzled and unnerved by this. He had been working underneath George for along time now but never heard him sound so angry.

Makson?

Jackson vaguely recalled hearing this name before. He quickly summoned his subordinates andbarked out orders to them, "Everyone put down what you're doing right now and find everything youcan about a man named Makson! I want all this information on my desk within five minutes!"

"Yes, sir!"

Everyone is set to work.

Meanwhile, Howard was still fuming at the police headquarters. He had his back facing everyoneelse so that no one could see his expression, but he was both infuriated and terrified. He was angryat George for having been so incompetent, and at the same time terrified that Liam would be heldresponsible for whatever happened at the Stone family's factory.

George, on the other hand, felt as though he was sitting on a pincushion. He was so anxious thathis forehead was now covered in beads of cold sweat as he silently cursed his incompetentsubordinates. He could not believe how slow they were—why were they taking so long to find out aman's identity?

Meanwhile, everyone else in the meeting room was glancing among themselves in confusion, butno one dared to utter a word.

"What happened, Mr. Mosier? Who was the person on the phone just now? What did he say thatmade you so angry?" one of the commissioners who felt rather brave at that moment asked.

Howard spun around in his seat and cast them all a dark look. "Angry? Why do you think I'm angry?I'm not—I'm terrified! I'm nothing compared to the man on the phone just now! I'm just the chiefcommissioner of this city, but even then I wouldn't dare to get on this man's bad side! Even ourmayor has to be at his beck and call. Do you remember what happened to the Walkers? Well, thisman is the mastermind behind their downfall! He called me just now because his wife's factory inthe Western Precinct was terrorized by a gangster named Makson, and he was fuming! Come on,everyone. I've already told you all to tighten the security in your precincts, and yet you have allowedsomething like this to happen! What were you thinking, Mr. Nelson? Just because you have a deathwish doesn't mean you should bring me down with you!"

George felt his heart leap into his throat. He inadvertently crossed a man whom even their mayorhad to show respect to. He could not even begin to imagine what the consequences were if heallowed this man's wife's territory to continue being terrorized.

As for the Walkers, everyone heard of what happened. Everything related to the Walkers wassealed in a highly confidential file that only Howard was allowed access to, so although they wereall at the scene, neither of them knew exactly what happened except the rumors.novelbin

The Walkers were such an elite family that neither of them even met them before, but ever sincewhat happened, the Walkers' file was sent away to Athenapolis so no one could pry on whathappened. Whatever happened was highly confidential!
