Chapter 818

Bradley stared out at the distant sea and asked casually, “Kevin, whenever I think of her, my heartaches. Is this love?”

Kevin shook his head, uncertain. “I don’t know.”

With closed eyes and an emotionless voice, Bradley continued. “Whenever I close my eyes, she’s rightbefore me, but when I open them, she disappears.

“I often hear her calling me, but no matter how hard I search, I can’t find her.

“Is this love?”

Kevin gazed at Bradley with deep sympathy and replied, “If… If all of this isn’t love, then what is?”

Bradley’s legs suddenly gave way, and he reached out to steady himself against the railing at theroad’s edge. His voice turned hoarse as he questioned, “Is this what love is?”

“Don’t ask me. I don’t know.”

Bradley looked at his hands, which seemed to be stained with crimson blood. Drop by drop, the bloodfell from his fingertips to the ground, staining the green area below. The couples taking wedding photoson the path seemed to transform into eerie, bloody figures.

Bradley rushed in a frenzy toward a bride taking photos, grabbed her, and scrutinized her face.

It wasn’t her.

Bradley continued his frenzied search, checking every bride’s face as if he hoped to see a vibrantEsther right in front of him.

But it wasn’t her. None of them were her.

Kevin followed Bradley, watching him approach pedestrians and ask fervently, “Do you know Esther?

“Do you recognize Esther?”

“No!”

The onlookers taking wedding photos observed Bradley’s strange behavior with bewilderment, butBradley paid no attention to their puzzled expressions. Instead, he persisted in asking.

“Do you know Esther?novelbin

“Do you recognize Esther?”

Kevin blocked Bradley and looked into his reddened eyes, speaking seriously. “Why don’t you ask me ifI know Esther?

“Let me tell you, I know Esther! I’ve met Esther!

“She’s dead!

“She died at the hands of the man she once loved most!

“Her ashes were scattered in this sea.

“Bradley, look at this vast sea, touch your heart, and then ask yourself, do you love Esther?”

Kevin knew what he was doing was extremely cruel to Bradley, but… he had to do it. Someone had tomake Bradley confront the dreadful reality of his actions toward Esther.

Bradley gazed at the endless sea, and it appeared blood-red in his eyes. He placed his hand on hischest, feeling his heart beating beneath.

He closed his eyes and silently asked himself in his heart, ‘Bradley, do you love Esther?’

After a moment of silence, he heard his heart respond softly, ‘Yes, Bradley loves Esther.’

In an instant, Bradley’s world darkened, becoming devoid of life. He faced the sea breeze, spread hisarms, and leaped from the side of Coastal Highway 9.

At that moment, love-suicide ceased to be just an ancient legend.
