Chapter 812

Kevin left the hospital room after speaking.

Bradley took a deep breath, holding back the urge to punch Kevin.

As Kevin exited, the doctor felt an unexpected pang of envy. Although Kevin was no longer the hospitaldirector, the doctor continued to receive Bradley’s salary. He felt trapped.

“Mr. Warner, you have gastric bleeding and require hospital treatment. Please cooperate.”

Bradley gazed at the doctor momentarily, then replied, “It seems like there’s something wrong with myheart.”

Upon hearing that, the doctor swiftly reviewed Bradley’s medical records. “Mr. Warner, according toyour cardiac ultrasound, there is nothing wrong with your heart.”

“My heart sometimes beats very fast and starts to hurt, making it hard to breathe.”

The doctor used his stethoscope to listen to Bradley’s heart, looking puzzled. Bradley’selectrocardiogram readings were normal.

“Can you tell me when or in what situations you feel your heart acting up?”

Bradley gently touched his chest, feeling his heart beating beneath. He pondered the doctor’s question, attempting to uncover why his heart was suddenly behaving this way.

The doctor pressed on, “When did you first notice an issue with your heart?”

“Nine months ago.”

Bradley had first noticed something wrong with his heart nine months ago when Esther was in the ICU,teetering on the brink of death.

“Where and when? In the ICU ward.”

The doctor inquired further, “Who was in the ICU? Was it a family member?”

“My wife.”

The doctor took a deep breath and cautiously asked, “When you think heart start hurting to the point ofnumbness, making it hard to breathe?”

Bradley remained silent.

The doctor continued. “Is it as if someone is using a knife to torment your heart every time you think ofher?”

After some hesitation, Bradley looked at the doctor and asked, “Do I have heart disease?”novelbin

“Mr. Warner, what I mean is if… If your heart only acts up at specific times or in specific situations, Ibelieve it’s not heart disease.”

Bradley raised an eyebrow and asked, “So, you’re saying my excruciating heart pain, to the point ofincapacitation, is not heart disease?”

“Could it be that your heart aches when your wife is ill or injured because you love her?”

Bradley stared at the doctor, appearing somewhat incredulous. “So, what are you trying to say?”

The doctor cleared his throat and explained, “Mr. Warner, this isn’t a heart condition. It’s because yourwife holds a special place in your heart. When you think of her, you feel happiness. When she’s notwith you, you feel sadness…”

Kevin, who stood at the room’s entrance, coldly interrupted, “His wife is dead! He pushed her to herdeath!”

The doctor was rendered speechless.

“Bradley, do you know why your heart feels this way? It’s because your heart is telling you that you loveEsther! Your heart knows it even before you do—you are deeply in love with her!”
