Jolene’s voice sounded panicked on the other end of the phone, causing Esther’s heart to race. Shenervously asked, “Jolene, what’s happening?”
“Esther, my stomach is in excruciating pain… Please come and help me…”

Jolene abruptly ended the call and sent Esther her location, but her phone became unreachable.
Esther hurriedly left, apologizing to the others, “I’m sorry. I have to go.”
Xara asked, “What’s going on, Esther?”
“It’s Jolene, the girl Chadwick used to look after. She might be unwell, and I need to check on her,”Esther replied.
Kevin, always straightforward, asked, “Esther, why do you care about her? Haven’t you seen howChadwick treated you?”
Jasper swatted Kevin’s shoulder and added, “Jolene’s father, just like Esther’s father, was a DEAagent. Maybe Esther can’t just turn a blind eye.”
“I see.” Kevin suddenly understood Esther’s concern. “But it’s strange. She and Esther aren’tparticularly close, so why didn’t she call the emergency hotline?”
Jasper looked at Kevin disapprovingly and turned to Esther, speaking gently. “Esther, I’ll come withyou.”
Esther declined, “No need. I have bodyguards.”
“If anything happens to Jolene, you’ll need someone to help. I’ll be there for you.” Jasper frowned.“However, what Kevin said has a point. What if this is a trap?”
Esther’s heart skipped a beat. “Do you think so?”
Kevin advised, “Stay cautious. Take Jasper with you.”
He exchanged a meaningful look with Jasper, hinting at giving them some alone time.
Jasper sighed and rubbed his forehead. If it meant getting closer to Esther…
“Alright.” Esther looked at Felix and Sunshine. “Xara, please take care of the kids.”
“Don’t worry about them,” Xara reassured her.
Esther and Jasper followed Jolene’s location to a motel and rang the doorbell. After a significant delay,Jolene opened the door with red eyes. She looked at Esther hesitantly and asked, “Esther, can we talkprivately?”
“Of course.”
Esther and Jasper had a quiet conversation before Esther entered the hotel room. As she venturedfurther into the room, she noticed a peculiar and unpleasant smell. On the table were several syringes,aluminum foil, and white powder scattered about.
An alarming thought crossed Esther’s mind instantly. She pointed at the white powder and asked,“Jolene, what is this?”
Jolene replied casually, “Oh, that’s powdered sugar.” She then clutched her stomach and sat on thecouch.
“Jolene!” Esther clenched her fists and asked in a low voice, “Can you swear on your father that it’s justpowdered sugar?”
Jolene’s gaze avoided Esther’s.
Esther realized that Jolene was aware of her suspicions and asked with a heavy heart, “Jolene, yourfather used it to catch those criminals…”
“I know… I know my father is a hero.” Jolene cried out in distress. “But look at my life! It’s like a crueljoke. I-I mistook the person who harmed my father for a savior. I even considered having his child!”
