Chapter 739

On Esther’s birthday, her parents had planned to take her away once they found the drug traffickers’trail, but they were a step too late.

In an attempt to protect Esther and Faye, Esther’s father, Cyrus Nightingale, tragically lost his life at thehands of the traffickers, who even started a massive fire. Witnessing this traumatic event, Esther lost allher childhood memories, her mind enveloped in shock.

Listening intently, Esther held onto her clothes and struggled to remember her early years. However, her recollections remained blank, beginning only from her time with the Ansteys.

Oliver furrowed his brow, asking, “Then why did Esther end up with the Ansteys? Why didn’t my sistersend her back to Capitus?”

Gabriel looked at Oliver and replied in a strained voice, “At that time, she was torn, but… sendingEsther back to Capitus would have jeopardized the safety of the Quills, as her true identity had beenexposed. I ultimately decided to send her to the Ansteys.

“One reason was that Martin was an old comrade of mine and could provide a safe haven for Esther, away from Capitus and hidden under a new identity.

“Secondly, Billy had a history with Faye—they were university classmates.”

Gabriel sighed deeply and apologized, “Esther, I’m sorry. I failed to protect you properly, leading tothese five years of injustice.”

Esther held no blame for Gabriel. She understood that Bradley, her childhood love, was the one whohad caused her suffering.

“Mr. Sinclair, it’s not your fault. I just want to know… Is my mother still alive?”

Gabriel shook his head with sorrow, saying, “I’m sorry. I don’t know either.”

Shocked, Oliver asked, “You don’t know either?”novelbin

“That’s correct.” Gabriel continued. “She’s always been resolute in her decisions. After sending Estherto the Ansteys, she vanished.”

“Vanished?”

“Yes,” Gabriel confirmed. “I hope she’s alive. If she is, she will surely return to your side.”

Trying to console Esther, Oliver said, “Esther, at this point, no news might be the best news.”

Gabriel agreed, “That’s right.”

Esther’s eyes welled up with tears as she implored, “Can you tell me more about my parents?”

Gabriel smiled and said, “They were exceptional students and the most loving couple I’ve ever known. They cherished you above all else, Esther. They wouldn’t have entrusted your care to me if theyweren’t concerned about the drug traffickers seeking revenge.”

Gabriel had never anticipated Esther’s unjust imprisonment due to Thomas’ grandson. He would haverisked everything to secure her innocence if he had known.

“For now, focus on resting and regaining your health. I rushed here and only brought this photo. Whenyou’re discharged, come to me, and I’ll help you piece together your childhood.”

“Alright.”

Esther finally understood why she had treated Jolene so kindly. They shared similar stories of heroicfathers.

“Esther, take good care of yourself,” Oliver said, his eyes filled with affection. “You’ve always yearned tolearn about your parents. Now, as these mysteries unravel, your life will gradually find its true path.”
