“Felix, your mom won’t leave you alone,” Xara assured.
“That’s right.” Felix’s tears welled up further. “Mommy still needs to find my sister!”
“Steffan, take the kids away for a moment. I want to speak with Bradley in private,” Xara said.
When Steffan learned that Xara would be alone with another man, a possessive look flashed in hiseyes. “It’s about Esther.”
Steffan eventually agreed and left with Jacob, holding Felix and Sunshine.
Bradley continued to kneel as Agatha had requested in the corridor outside the operating room.
“Do you love Esther?” Xara wasn’t sure if Bradley loved Esther, but she knew Esther loved him.Otherwise, she wouldn’t have secretly donated her liver or been threatened by Chadwick.
Men and women were different. Men could love many women, but when a woman fell for someone,she wouldn’t easily change her feelings.
“It’s not your business,” Bradley replied coldly.
Xara sat on a bench, gazing at Bradley from a distance. “Esther has a history of depression, which caneasily relapse. I don’t know what deep-seated issues exist between you and her, but I must remind youas a psychologist.
“At times, Esther seems strong, but she’s also fragile. Everyone has an emotional breaking point.
“Esther’s emotions have been teetering on that breaking point. If she crosses it, you and she will beworlds apart.
“If you love her, love her deeply. If not, please let her go.”
Xara stood up and offered heartfelt advice. “If you want her to die in front of you, then continue on thisstubborn path.
“Each person has only one precious life. If Esther chooses to leave this world, even if you regret it later,you won’t be able to bring a dead person back to life.
“I’ve said all I can. It’s up to you.”
If the DNA test hadn’t proven that Pixie wasn’t Esther’s daughter, Esther wouldn’t have chosen toreturn to the country in search of her real daughter. She and Bradley would have gone their separateways, and even the deepest feelings would have faded with time.
Xara thought that at least Esther was still alive.
With a loud clang, the door to the operating room swung open.
Kevin emerged from the operating room with a lifeless expression. He looked at Bradley and shook hishead with a solemn demeanor.
“Speak!” A surge of panic overwhelmed Bradley. The reality was too much for him to accept.
Seeing Kevin’s grim expression, Xara became extremely worried and asked, “Dr. Slade, how isEsther?”
Kevin looked at Xara. Without giving a clear answer, he asked, “You’re her friend and psychologist. Youshould know her situation best, right?”
Xara didn’t understand Kevin’s words and directly asked, “Dr. Slade, can you speak plainly? Is Estheralive now, or…”novelbin
Kevin let out a long sigh. He looked at Bradley and said weakly, “I also don’t know if she’s alive ordead!”
“What do you mean?” Xara asked.
Kevin’s tone grew colder. “You’ll have to ask Bradley about that.
“Bradley, I have to ask you. Just how much do you hate Esther? Do you want to eat her flesh, drink herblood, and crush her bones?”
Bradley didn’t want to hear more nonsense from Kevin, so he grabbed Kevin’s collar and asked, “IsEsther alive or not, Kevin?”
