Chapter 636

Maybe marrying Mandy could finally grant her the freedom she longed for. Grateful for Mandy’s liverdonation that saved his life, Bradley wanted to offer her a chance at a better life.

“Mr. Warner, I’ll remember your words, and so will Mandy,” Selene said indifferently. “Mandy, if he everfalters in his commitment after marriage, you don’t need to endure it. We won’t trade our daughter forwealth, even in tough times.”

Mandy smiled gently and replied, “Mother, I won’t shame the Pendletons.”

Shelly hesitated before speaking as she glanced at Selene.

Selene asked, “What is it?”

“Madam, Master Chadwick mentioned he has plans for the evening and won’t be back for dinner.”

Selene saw nothing unusual and replied, “Then tell the chef to prepare the meal.”novelbin

Four unrelated individuals sat at a large round table in the Pendletons’ dining room. The spacious tableseemed quite empty with only four people—there was space for four or five more between each ofthem.

Esther quietly ate her meal.

Unlike Esther, who tried to blend in, Bradley occasionally showed his affection for Mandy through smallgestures.

Selene remained silent during the meal, focusing solely on her food. Esther observed Selene through abouquet of flowers and mimicked her behavior, determined not to be influenced by Bradley and Mandy,

and thoroughly enjoyed her meal.

After finishing the meal, Mandy suggested, “Mother, we’ll be leaving now. Can we visit you tomorrow?”

Out of politeness, Selene asked, “It’s late. Why don’t you stay?”

Seemingly oblivious to Selene’s politeness, Bradley smiled and replied, “Then we’ll gladly accept youroffer!”

The three women present looked at him in exasperation. Did he not grasp the courteous gesture?

“Shelly, prepare two guest rooms.”

Shelly acknowledged, “Yes, Madam.”

As if very familiar with Selene, Bradley asked, “Mrs. Pendleton, it’s still early. Why don’t we pass thetime with some card games?”

Esther didn’t think Selene would play cards.

Selene asked Esther, “Do you know how to play?”

Esther had no idea, so she shook her head honestly. “I don’t.”

Selene raised her chin slightly. “Then let me teach you. As a Pendleton daughter-in-law, you must knowhow to play cards to socialize with other ladies.”

The four of them went to the game room. Selene and Esther sat across from each other while Bradleyand Mandy faced each other.

Once the automatic card dealer started, Esther felt an odd sensation on her legs. She instinctivelylooked at Bradley, who asked seriously, “Mrs. Pendleton, what stakes should we play with?”

“Do you know how to play, Mandy?” Selene asked.

Mandy nodded and said, “I know a bit.”

“Then you should explain the rules to her!”

Mandy turned to Esther and said, “We usually play—”

“Oh…” Chadwick strolled over to Esther’s side and put his arm around her shoulder. “Esther, don’tworry. With me as your strategist, we’re guaranteed to win!”

Jealousy flickered in Bradley’s eyes as he watched how Chadwick treated Esther. She was his, andanyone who dared to touch her would face dire consequences!
