Chapter 445

Chapter 445

Esther wasn’t aware of Xara and Steffan’s history, but she understood that should Felix fall ill, she’dhave to bear another child to save him. Even returning to the man she despised for Felix’s sake wasn’toff the table.

“I would,” she affirmed.

Xara asked, “Even after how he’s treated you?”

Esther looked at Xara intently, sharing her thoughts. “As I watch you right now, Xara, you know whatI’m considering? Learning self-defense, maybe becoming stronger. If the time comes, I’ll knock Bradleyout. After all, I just need his contribution, not him personally.

“And if that doesn’t work, I’ll try a different approach. Bradley’s attractive, and his stamina is good. I’lltreat him like a vibrator without any emotional attachment.”

Xara couldn’t help but chuckle at Esther’s words, her hand covering her mouth. “Esther, yourperspective is certainly unique,” she commented, amused.

Esther lifted the wine glass before her, taking a sip. “During the time Bradley held me captive, thesevery thoughts crossed my mind. Instead of harboring bitterness, I decided to embrace thecircumstances.

“Xara, I often ponder whether Bradley brought about all the challenges I’ve faced. If I had the chance torelive my life, would I still choose him or opt to be strangers? This question has lingered within me for awhile, and my answer remains unchanged. I would still choose Bradley for the sake of Felix. LovingBradley is indeed bitter, but Felix is just too sweet.”

Esther’s words struck a chord with Xara. She hid her face, her tears flowing quietly.

Sensing Xara’s emotions, Esther drew nearer, her arm encircling Xara’s shoulders as she whisperedsoothingly, “It’s alright, Xara. Let your feelings flow. If you need to cry, go ahead.”

“Why couldn’t it have been me who got sick? Why did it have to be my Jacob?” Xara’s heart ached withthe weight of Jacob’s illness. She felt as though a punishment from above had befallen her-retributionfor her own selfishness, neglect of her child, denial of reality, and avoidance of the truth.

“Xara, when Tinkerbell fell ill, I too wondered, ‘Why isn’t it me in her place?’ I’ve made my ownmistakes and loved the wrong person. Yet, it was Tinkerbell who bore the suffering.

“We are mothers, the ones who carried our children in our wombs. Our deepest wish is for our childrento thrive in health and safety.

“I understand your pain, but the past remains unchanged. Our focus must now shift to the present andfuture.

“Isn’t the solution as simple as having another baby? Let’s consider it. Imagine, your extraordinarygenes combined with Steffan’s. The result was the handsome Jacob. Another child could be equallyexceptional. Think of it as a remarkable contribution to human reproduction.”

Xara chuckled. After shedding tears and confiding her worries, she felt a weight lifted from her heart. Her mood had considerably brightened.

“Esther, what’s your plan?” Xara pushed her own concerns aside, focusing on Esther’s well- being.“When you return to your country, what if Bradley threatens you again when you try to find your child?”

“I won’t compromise anymore.” Esther had already devised a plan to tackle the situation.” Haven’t Ialready filed for divorce? Thanks to Bradley, the divorce case is getting a lot of attention. I will addressthe issue directly in court. Additionally, I’m planning to take legal action against the prison where I gavebirth. With a two-pronged approach, there’s a high chance of a breakthrough.”

Xara gently patted Esther’s shoulder, letting out a heartfelt sigh. “Esther, our lives have been nothingshort of challenging.”

Many girls dreamt of meeting a prince on a white horse and living a sweet love story in their youth. However, reality often proved to be different. The so-called princes often left behind scars from life’sfierce storms rather than sweet memories.novelbin

“Perhaps I owed him in my previous life.” Esther laughed bitterly at herself. “Otherwise, how could hehave hurt me so much?”

Xara laughed out loud and agreed. “Right, Esther. Maybe we were the ‘villains’ who wronged them inour past lives. This life is just payback. It’s really… mind-blowing!”

Neither Xara nor Esther could hold their liquor very well. The two just used the occasion to drink andvent their sorrows. After getting slightly tipsy, they each returned to their respective bedrooms.

In the bedroom, the adorable Sunshine and Felix had taken their baths and were engrossed in readingpicture books.

“Mommy!” they called out.
