Chapter 248

Chapter 248

Kevin noticed that Esther had a high fever, prompting his instincts as a doctor to grab an electronicthermometer and measure her temperature. The result was astonishing-Esther’s forehead temperaturereached 39.9°C.

“Bradley, Esther’s fever is extremely severe. I strongly recommend taking her to the hospital, “Kevinsaid.

A chilling coldness flickered in Bradley’s eyes as he replied, “Will you take responsibility if sheescapes?”

Kevin pointed at the unconscious Esther and firmly stated, “Considering her current condition, if sheisn’t taken to the hospital soon, she may face serious

face serious consequences.”

“Medicine.”

Deciding not to allow Esther, whom he considered scheming, to go to the hospital, Bradley recalledhow she managed to deceive a doctor the last time she feigned selective amnesia. He believed that ifhe sent her to the hospital this time, she would surely find a way to escape.

In Bradley’s eyes, Esther had zero credibility.

“Bradley, I won’t be held responsible if anything happens to her,” Kevin warned.

Kevin prepared some medication from the medical kit for Esther to take. Although her high feverpersisted, he wrote down the necessary medications and sent one of the Warner drivers to retrievethem from the hospital.

Esther’s fever visibly subsided within an hour of taking the medication, perhaps due to her tenacity.novelbin

The night at the Warner residence was unsettling and terrifying.

Observing Esther’s fever subsiding successfully, Kevin glanced at Bradley, who wore a menacingexpression. Unaware of the truth, Kevin speculated, “Bradley, did Esther kidnap Felix out of resentmentfor your marriage to Liliane?”

Kevin had no favorable impression of Esther. Growing up with Bradley since childhood, he knewfirsthand how well Thomas treated Esther. However, even this kind and loving old man became a targetof Esther’s ruthless actions!

Until the video was released, Kevin couldn’t believe that such a heartless woman like Esther existed inthis world, capable of harming an old man who showered her with love.

Bradley rubbed his temples, throbbing with pain, and coldly said, “That’s not it.”

“If that’s not the reason, then why?” Kevin cared deeply for Felix, a smart and clever child.” When Felixwas previously unwell, he never encountered any danger. But ever since he came into contact withEsther, danger has followed him.”

Bradley glared at the talkative Kevin and walked to the door, instructing the nearby bodyguard, “Bringme the dog’s chain.”

“Yes, sir.” The dog’s chain was quickly brought to Bradley,

Bradley fastened one end of the chain to Esther’s right wrist and the other end to the bed frame.

Kevin stared in shock and asked, disbelief evident in his voice, “Bradley… isn’t this illegal detention?”

“What’s the problem if it’s for Esther’s safety?” Bradley responded.

Kevin remained silent.

Marks from the zip ties were visible on Esther’s wrists, her fair porcelain skin contrasting with the brightred blood. The cold iron chain grazed against the wounds, causing Esther to awaken from hernightmare.

As she moved, the clanking sound of the chain startled her, inducing panic. She looked in shock at thechain on her wrist and questioned fearfully, “Bradley, what are you doing? What do you want!?”

“Esther!” Bradley tightly gripped Esther’s delicate and fragile neck, his teeth gritted. “You will stay hereuntil Felix’s funeral is over!”

“There won’t be a funeral!” Esther felt the pressure on her neck and desperately tried to pry openBradley’s iron grip, her tear-filled eyes filled with despair.

“Felix isn’t dead, Bradley. He’s waiting for us to save him. He’s definitely waiting for us…
