“I approve your resignation, but please take care of her for the time being,” Bradley said, consideringvarious candidates in his mind and realizing that he could trust Esther only to Xara in the end. “Thebodyguards are stationed outside the door. If you need anything, you can inform them.”
Xara glanced at Esther, who was in a similar state, and silently nodded, biting her lip.
Once Bradley had made the arrangements for Esther, he called the hospital’s director to requestLiliane’s medical records. He also wanted to personally meet Wilson, the one who had attemptedmurder in the name of medicine.
Liliane’s digital medical records and previous examination reports landed in Bradley’s hands. Due tothe specialized nature of the information, he could only pass these documents to Scott and ask him tocarefully review all the details.
Meanwhile, Wilson had been arrested!
Leah was in a state of panic. She dreaded the possibility of Wilson revealing the truth that Liliane hadnever been pregnant. What would their fate be if Bradley discovered that they had been deceiving himfor five years?
Bradley was a merciless man, even to his own wife. He wouldn’t let them off easily if he learned thatthey had deceived him.
Leah looked at the oblivious Liliane lying on the hospital bed and contemplated the worst- casescenarios. She thought they might have to leave the country if things didn’t work out. Leah grabbed herphone and headed to the downstairs garden. “Shane, it’s me.”
Upon hearing Leah’s voice, Shane’s tone turned slightly tense as he asked, “Has the surgery takenplace?”novelbin
“No, he was arrested!”
Shane’s voice grew deeper as he inquired hoarsely, “What happened?”
“I don’t know all the details either. What I do know is that he was taken away from the operating room.And to make matters worse, Bradley took that woman, Esther, with him.
“Shane, what should we do now? Liliane’s life is hanging by a thread, and Bradley hasn’t made it clearif he intends to marry her. If he finds out Liliane never gave birth, I can’t imagine how he’ll seek revengeagainst us…”
Shane hadn’t expected Bradley to be so fixated on Esther. He couldn’t help but feel a throbbingheadache and rubbed his forehead. He should have let Esther die in prison, ending everything backthen.
Taking a deep breath, Shane reassured the anxious Leah in a gentle voice, “He won’t expose you.”
“What I’m worried about now is… what if…”
A terrifying glint of anger flashed in Shane’s eyes, and he spoke in a low voice. “No matter whatBradley says, insist firmly that Liliane did give birth. Let him conduct a DNA paternity test if he doesn’tbelieve it. I’ll take care of the rest.”
“Alright.” With Shane by her side, Leah finally managed to calm down a bit.
“Don’t be afraid. If things don’t work out, you can take Liliane out of the country. No matter howpowerful Bradley is, he won’t be able to harm you both abroad. I’ve saved some money in foreign
banks over the years, so you don’t have to worry about your livelihood.”
Leah asked again, “What good is money if Liliane still doesn’t have a heart?”
“If Esther’s heart is a suitable match, we can use it for Liliane. We’re temporarily placing Liliane’s heartin Esther’s body for now.”
Shane still regretted it. If only he had known earlier that Esther’s heart would be a suitable match forhis daughter.
