Chapter 998: Change

Chapter 998: Change

Grace hesitated for a few seconds before speaking, "I'm not sure, but I guess it's probably to gain

control of Armstrong Corp's executive power within the Armstrong family. Because of Cami's shares,

my dad... he can't compete with Horace anymore. Every decision has to go through Horace's approval,

and he can't accept that."

"So, he wants to use the Wesley family to regain control of Armstrong Corp?"novelbin

"It seems that way, because my dad has had a lot of disagreements with Horace lately, even though

they haven't had heated arguments. But I know he must be upset."

Ayan narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze enveloped in a coldness. He chuckled lightly and said, "In

that case, we should talk to Horace instead of hurting Camille."

"I'm sorry, I know what they're doing is wrong, but I can't change it, so I..."

"This isn't your fault, so no need to apologize. But if you don't want to become the second victim, you

should confess your relationship with Horace as soon as possible. It's best to make it clear and

indisputable. Otherwise, Camille's situation today might be yours tomorrow," Ayan reminded her

warmly.

Ayan rarely interfered in other people's affairs and wouldn't have said so much if it weren't for Grace's

genuine concern for Camille. Grace understood that Ayan's words were not just empty talk, and her

heart was filled with unease.

Their conversation didn't last long, and Ayan didn't want Camille to know about it. He would take care

of everything, and Camille needed to be happy.

After ending the call, Ayan deleted the call history. Just as he put his phone down, Camille came out of

the bathroom.

Ayan looked at her and asked gently, "Why did you take such a long bath?"

Camille pressed her lips lightly and replied softly, "I was a bit tired and wanted to soak for a while."

She walked over to Ayan and hugged him. "I'm a bit annoyed."

Ayan chuckled, "Annoyed about what? Is it because of tonight? I've told you not to think about it. You

should think about what dishes to prepare for Grandpa and my parents tomorrow."

Camille tilted her head up from his embrace, looking at him with a playful expression. She asked, "Isn't

this something you should be worried about? My job is just to chat with Grandpa and keep Timmy

company."

Ayan responded confidently, "Isn't managing the affairs at home your responsibility?"

Camille narrowed her eyes slightly and chuckled, "Who said that?"

"I did."

"Well, your say doesn't count. I'll tell Mom, and be careful not to get barred from entering the Simpson's

mansion gates," she teased.

Ayan asked in a deep voice, "You're being so ruthless to me?"

Camille raised an eyebrow and replied, "Well, we are technically divorced now, just ex-husband and ex-

wife."

Ayan grabbed her waist firmly, his voice low and hoarse. "Do I need to correct you? Even though we're

divorced, we still live in the same house."

Camille narrowed her eyes slightly, lightly teasing him. "Mr. Simpson, aren't you a bit too overbearing? I

want to refuse, but it seems I can't."

Ayan snorted softly. "Dream on."

Camille reached out and playfully tapped his chest before smiling gently. "You're just too domineering,

Mr. Simpson."

Ayan then pinched her cheek and said, "I'm going to take a shower."

Camille responded with a soft "Mmm," and as Ayan went to the bathroom, the atmosphere in the

bedroom returned to tranquility. Camille lay on the bed, her mood still somewhat low.

Though Ayan had said many comforting words, there were still things she couldn't stop thinking about.

Camille picked up her phone and sent a message to Sienna, briefly explaining what had happened at

the Armstrong family tonight and the things Brody and Page had said.

Even though it was late, Camille still wanted to share this with Sienna. After sending the message, she

didn't expect an immediate response from Sienna, so she switched to browsing other things. However,

within moments, she received a notification that Sienna had replied. It was quite surprising that Sienna

was still awake at this hour.

Sienna replied, "They've never considered you as family, and it's been like this for a long time. Just the

fact that they sent you to your grandmother's house in Flento shows they have no familial feelings for

you. Your grandmother has no blood relation to you, so didn't they think about whether she would treat

you well? Of course, your grandmother is the best to you, but shouldn't parents be worried? But they

aren't. So why should you be sad or upset because of them? It's completely unnecessary, and they're

not worthy of it!"

Sienna spoke earnestly, each word a criticism of the Armstrong family, filled with her concern for

Camille.

After listening to Sienna, a faint smile appeared on Camille's face. She replied in a soft voice, "You're

right. They haven't treated me well, so why should I care about their words?"

Indeed, why should she care about people who didn't care about her?

Sienna continued to express her disapproval of Brody and Page and advised Camille not to have any

soft feelings for them. If they ever came seeking help, Camille should simply ignore them.

Camille agreed with Sienna's sentiments. They both understood that it was best to respect each other's

boundaries.

After a few more exchanges on this topic, Camille changed the subject and asked, "Why are you still

awake at this hour?"

Sienna replied with an embarrassed facepalm emoji, "Oh, you know, newlyweds and all!"

Camille chuckled softly, "Alright, goodnight!"

After ending the conversation with Sienna, Camille put her phone down and lay back. Despite the

unpleasant events of tonight, Sienna's words and the support from her and Ayan had helped ease

Camille's emotions, allowing her to sleep well.

The following day was when the old Simpson, along with Fletcher and Talia, would return. Camille told

Sienna she wouldn't be going to the company and instead would return to the Simpson's mansion with

Timmy after having breakfast.

Ayan, of course, headed to the company.

Both cars left Franklin Bay at around the same time. Before departing, Ayan told Camille, "When we

get back to the Simpson's mansion, don't overthink things. If anyone calls, you don't need to answer,

no matter what they say. Just ignore them, alright?"

Camille nodded, saying, "I understand. I won't overthink things anymore."

Ayan continued, "Whether it's the Armstrong family or the Wesley family, let me handle it. If there's any

problem, just come to me. No one has the right to take you away from my side, whether it's in Hance or

Chesen."

Camille couldn't help but smile at his words. She playfully asked, "Is this your way of confessing your

love?"

Ayan snorted lightly, "You heartless woman, are you trying to pour cold water on me again?"

"How could you think of me that way? I'm not like that at all. Don't misunderstand me!" Camille playfully

denied his teasing. Just then, the nanny came out carrying Timmy. And she said, "Alright, you get going

to the company. We're heading back to the Simpson's mansion too."

Ayan nodded, saying, "Okay, give me a message when you arrive."

"Sure."

The return trip to the Simpson's mansion was, as usual, driven by their chauffeur. Camille sat in the

back with Timmy, her eyes filled with motherly affection as she watched over him. It made her wonder

why she couldn't sense any love from Page and Brody.

Camille found it ironic that, despite all her efforts to please them, it seemed she would never gain their

affection. She couldn't help but wonder what other schemes the Armstrong family had in store to force

and manipulate her.

Meanwhile, at the company, Ayan arrived and soon after, Horace entered his office. They sat down on

the office sofa, and Ayan got straight to the point, asking, "Does Mr. Burris want to change the current

management model of Armstrong Corp?"
