Chapter 902: In Control

Chapter 902: In Control

Preston remained calm and replied, "So it was the Hance City police calling; I thought it was a

telemarketing call."

His response posed no loopholes, and the police couldn't question him on this.

The police continued, "Mr. Walker, we would like to talk to you about the Hance City Museum project.novelbin

You were serving as the project's partner under the name Benjamin Baxter, right?"

Preston's identity was exposed directly, but he showed no surprise. In the age of the internet, it was

easy for netizens to dig up information.

He calmly confirmed, "Yes."

"Do you know a architect named Louise in the project?"

"Yes."

"Is Louise's death related to you?"

Preston raised his gaze to the officer asking the question, maintaining his calm demeanor, "Can I

choose not to answer this question? Since my lawyer is not present, anything I say might be used

against me."

Preston's reply was met with understanding, and the police didn't force him to answer.

The police asked further, "Mr. Walker, do you know Sean?"

"Yes, my former secretary, but he no longer works for me." Preston answered truthfully.

The police continued, "Sean posted a video online. Have you seen it?"

"What video?" Preston shook his head lightly, "I've been busy lately and haven't had time to follow the

happenings in Hance. Could you tell me about the video?"

The police looked at him skeptically, but Preston's reaction remained calm and composed, not giving

away any hint of concern or panic. The police then handed him the phone with the video.

Throughout the viewing, Preston's expression remained neutral. After watching it, he casually said,

"Sean was suspected by the Hance's police in relation to Louise's death. Wasn't he missing for a

while? Wasn't Hance's police investigating him? Now that he posted this video, don't the police plan to

take any action?"

Preston's successive questions left the two officers puzzled. They couldn't find any loopholes in his

reasoning.

He looked at Sean's image frozen in the video and said indifferently, "What is Sean trying to convey

with this video? Did you come here because of this video?"

"Sean's video clears him of any involvement in Louise's death. Hance's police have already

investigated, and the case has nothing to do with him. Now, many netizens are questioning you due to

the video. Do you have anything to say about it?"

"Questioning me?" Preston chuckled lightly, "That's too unjust, isn't it? I hope both of you and the police

can treat me fairly. You can't let innocent people bear the consequences of baseless rumors and

accusations, right?"

Preston's innocent expression left the police unsure of how to respond. They had come to investigate

Preston, but he had cleverly turned the tables on them.

They exchanged glances and then followed up, "So, Mr. Walker, you mean you have no connection at

all with Louise's deat, the content of Sean's video and the suspicions of netizens?"

"Of course not. How could any of this be related to me? I am a law-abiding citizen and won't cross any

legal boundaries. I am getting ready to get married and welcome my child into this world. I won't resort

to any means to stop the spread of these rumors and negativity online. I leave everything to the police

to handle, as I trust them."

Preston's words conveyed his stance clearly. He hinted that he wouldn't take advantage of his power to

interfere with the matter. He would let the police handle everything and grant him justice.

How could someone like him commit a crime?

Preston's attitude left the police with no further questions. He had honestly answered all their questions

about Louise's death and his relationship with Sean. In the end, the two officers could only advise

Preston to keep his phone available and easily reachable and then left.

After seeing off the police, Preston's expression turned indifferent.

Molly asked in a low voice, "Brother, do the police suspect that Louise's death is related to you?"

Molly had listened to most of the conversation and had also checked online about the incident.

Preston glanced coldly at Molly and replied, "Don't talk nonsense. The police will investigate anyone

related to the case."

"Yes, okay," Molly obediently nodded and then asked, "The police also know about your relationship

with Sean. Will it be detrimental to you?"

Preston didn't answer, and his expression grew darker.

His chilling black eyes squinted slightly, emitting an intimidating coldness that made people dare not

look directly.

In the end, Preston didn't respond to Molly's question. The day continued without any change due to

the sudden visit from the police.

Molly went out to pick wedding dresses, and Preston drove alone to a secluded private residence.

He didn't stay inside for long and came out, accompanied by a woman pushing a suitcase.

They got into the car together and headed to Flento City Airport.

Flento's police had come to look for Preston upon the request of Hance's police, and naturally, Ayan

had been informed about it beforehand.

Logan had immediately informed Kian about the situation after the Flento's police visited Preston. Kian

informed Ayan truthfully, and Ayan showed no surprise.

After all, Preston was meticulous in his planning. He had come this far not just relying on the Walker

family; he had his own abilities.

Ayan heard the news and remained unresponsive. Kian looked up to meet his gaze and asked softly,

"Mr. Simpson, since Preston responded in a way that the incident had nothing to do with him, should

we pursue it all out?"

Preston's identity was no longer just Benjamin; thanks to Sean, his real identity as Preston was now

exposed.

However, Preston seemed fearless. His calm and composed demeanor suggested that he had already

thought of countermeasures.

Ayan didn't plan to engage in petty squabbles with him. Either he would attack Preston to the point

where he had no ability to resist, or he wouldn't do anything at all. At least in Preston's eyes, everything

was unrelated to Ayan.

Engaging in petty squabbles would only bring him tedious troubles. Dealing with these minor matters

would waste his time.

From the beginning, Ayan's intention was to use this incident to deter Preston from coming to Hance

while also making Cora see the current situation clearly.

Ayan said indifferently, "No need. As long as we maintain the public opinion online, it's enough. Until

now, no one has presented any evidence connecting Preston directly to Louise's death. It's impossible

to convict him based on mere speculation."

"You're right, but are we just going to watch Preston do as he pleases?"

"He is not at ease right now. Molly wants to get married with him, so he either agrees to the marriage

and gets nothing from the Walker family, or he refuses to marry Molly, which would cause a complete

fallout between him and Molly as well as the Walker family. Just this matter alone will keep him busy for

a long time."

Ayan chuckled lightly. He had control over every move Preston made. Only Preston himself believed

that everything was well hidden, unaware that everything was transparent like the emperor's new

clothes.

After discussing Preston's matter, Kian shared another piece of information he received earlier that day,

"Mr. Simpson, Quintus left his apartment early this morning. I've already arranged someone to tail him."
