Chapter 813 Registration
Chapter 813 Registration
"Jeremiah, can you get in touch with Mr. Norman?" Preston didn't answer his question but instead
brought up the matter concerning Austin at the moment. Preston said, "Whether Austin gets caught or
safely returns to Campole, do you think Ayan will spare Norman Group? It's best to completely sever
ties with Norman Group right now. So, think it over."
Jeremiah immediately hushed and after a while, he said, "I need to request permission from Mr.
Norman before I can give you an answer."
Preston smiled faintly, "I can wait, but Jeremiah, I hope you understand that if you can't contact Mr.
Norman tonight, you must give me a definite answer. If you can't make the decision, I might just release
a statement unilaterally. Understand?"
Jeremiah was taken aback by this statement.
He became somewhat agitated and said, "Mr. Baxter, you've been cooperating with Mr. Norman for so
long, and he always accommodates your requests. Isn't what you're doing a bit inappropriate?"
"It's precisely because of our cooperation that I'm doing this. If we don't prepare for the worst, then we'll
have nothing. Is that what you want? Of course, what I'm doing now is just a precautionary measure. If
there's nothing wrong, that's even better. But if something does happen, we're not afraid. What do you
say?"
Compared to Jeremiah's excitement, Preston remained calm and composed, explaining his reasoning
to Jeremiah with a calm and gentle voice, which made Jeremiah swayed.
Jeremiah promised Preston that he would give him an answer tonight.
Afterward, Jeremiah tried various ways to contact Austin, but there were no results.
Preston was well aware of this.
Austin was being sought after by people everywhere. He had offended Ayan, and Ayan would stop at
nothing to find him.
Preston stood silently by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing outside. A faint hint of indifference
appeared on his face, making it difficult to discern what he was thinking.
Approaching eleven o'clock, Quintus called. He said, "Mr. Baxter, everything has been taken care of.
I've compiled all the projects directly related to Norman Group and sent them to Jeremiah. Your
position at Norman Group has been canceled, and Jeremiah knows about it. He didn't question it, so I
believe he tacitly agreed. The procedures went smoothly."
"Good. Correct all the projects we're currently involved in at Hance City under the name of the
company I had you register."
"Alright, understood."
Ever since Preston arrived in Hance City, he had been in contact with Quintus. He had Quintus register
an investment company in his name called Chia Tai Investment Company.
Therefore, Preston had long planned to completely sever ties with Norman Group because Austin was
of little use to him now. He wouldn't waste his time and energy on someone he couldn't exploit.
As for why he didn't register the company under his own name, perhaps only he himself knew what he
was thinking!
It was already late into the night.
But there was still no news from Austin.
They had been searching for him for most of the night, and everyone was exhausted.
Since it wasn't officially declared as a case yet, the police couldn't continue the search. Otherwise, as
the morning came, more and more people would become aware of the situation, and it would escalate,
leading to the arrested individuals being investigated under the police's name.
So, after discussing with Kian, Logan decided to call off the search.
It was getting late, and Kian hadn't reported to Ayan, leaving a small group of people to continue the
search while the others rested temporarily and resumed searching in the streets after daybreak.
Just as the majority of the team withdrew, a dark figure emerged from a public restroom near the hot
spring villa and silently followed the team as they left.
Shortly after the dark figure departed, Kian glanced at his phone and said to one of the bodyguards
beside him, "Let everyone know they can stop searching. Mr. Simpson has arranged supper and hotel
accommodations for you all. Rest well and tomorrow we'll go together to one of Simpson Group's
hotels to have a good meal and relax."
"Thank you, Mr. Simpson. Thank you, Kian."
"No need to thank me. It's all Mr. Simpson's kindness."
Kian patted the bodyguard's shoulder before making his way to the car and getting in.
At three in the morning, Preston was awakened from his slumber by a knock on the door.
Instead of returning to his room, he had been sleeping in the living room.
So when someone knocked, he almost immediately woke up. He had been sleeping in the living room
to wait for the person knocking, as there was no other person in Hance City apart from him whom this
person could be looking for.
Preston didn't open the door right away. He sat silently on the sofa for nearly five minutes before slowly
getting up to answer it.
Seeing Austin outside the door, Preston's gaze softened. "Mr. Norman?!"
Austin walked past him and entered the house without a word. He found the water dispenser and drank
two glasses of water, not even minding that it was Preston's cup. After quenching his thirst, Austin
finally regained some composure and weakly sat down on a chair, speaking to Preston, "Can you give
me something to eat? I've been running around all night without having anything to eat. I'm starving."
Austin looked extremely disheveled at the moment. His clothes and pants were covered in dirt and
dust, and his hair was a mess, with strands of grass and debris still clinging to it.
This was the most disheveled Austin had ever been in his life, and he appeared completely drained of
energy, looking utterly exhausted.
Preston didn't refuse and picked up his phone to order something for him. However, given the late hour,
he could only order some food that would suffice for now.
After ordering the food, Preston pointed to the bathroom and asked, "Mr. Norman, would you like to
take a shower and wash your hair first? I'll prepare some fresh clothes for you."
Austin nodded and said, "Thank you, Mr. Baxter. I appreciate it."
"Mr. Norman, you're being too polite. This place is also your home. No need for formalities between
us."
Preston smiled lightly, but there was hardly any amusement in his eyes, only a warm yet distant
indifference that conveyed a sense of detachment and disdain.novelbin
Of course, Austin didn't notice. Right now, all he wanted was to take a hot shower, eat a good meal,
and then get some sleep.
As for other matters, they could discuss them after daybreak.
While Austin was taking a shower, Preston prepared the clothes for him and the takeout arrived.
After Austin finished eating, Preston didn't rush to give him time to rest. Instead, the two of them sat
face to face on the living room sofa. Preston handed his phone to Austin, and the screen displayed the
events of tonight. Although it didn't reveal what had exactly happened, as the person involved, Austin
understood it at a glance.
Austin glanced at the phone and then put it down, looking fearlessly at Preston. He asked, "Mr. Baxter,
what is this about?"
"Mr. Norman, I called you earlier in the day and asked you the same question. How did you respond
back then? You said you didn't take Camille away. So, what about now? If it wasn't you, would Ayan go
to such lengths? Would you be hiding and evading like this?"
Preston's tone didn't carry much anger or any particular emotion of displeasure.
Austin's expression changed slightly, and a hint of coldness crept into his tone as he replied, "Is Mr.
Baxter blaming me for something?"
Preston smiled faintly. "Why would I? I'm simply telling Mr. Norman that since we are in collaboration,
we should maintain honesty rather than keeping things hidden like this. Don't you agree?"
Austin remained silent, his expression not too pleasant. He felt that Preston had no right to accuse him.
While they joined hands, Preston was only attached to him and Norman Group. If it weren't for his
connection to Norman Group, Preston couldn't have returned to Hance City so openly.
It was simply ridiculous.
So, why did Preston think he had the authority to speak to him like this?
He was just a business partner attached to Norman Group. Such a person should show him respect
instead of questioning him in this manner.
Austin narrowed his eyes slightly, a trace of coldness appearing in them. He coldly asked, "Is Mr.
Baxter accusing me of hiding something from you, or is it because you think I'm feeling sorry for
Camille since I kidnapped her? Mr. Baxter, have you forgotten that Camille is Ayan's wife? Even if you
feel sorry for her, it's not your concern. Don't you understand that?"
