Chapter 1402 - Owed

"Of course," Horace took over the conversation.

Kian opened the car door and got out.

Grace added, "Thank you, Kian."

"No need to be polite, Miss Armstrong," Kian replied as he walked back to his car.

As Kian drove off, Grace and Horace remained seated in the car, silent. The atmosphere lingered for a brief moment beforeHorace finally spoke up, "How did the conversation go with her? Did you get what you wanted?"

"She is definitely connected to my father. Her every word and reaction have given me the answer. But | still can't understand whyit's her. How can it be her?" Grace took a deep breath, her expression solemn, her eyes shimmering with tears. She looked atHorace, her voice growing softer, "| have made up my mind. | must give her a punishment. | want her to know that what she didwas wrong, and that she has wronged my mother and me."

As Grace spoke, tears began to fall.

Horace furrowed his brows, then pulled her into his arms, holding her close. His voice was gentle, "You are right. Those who dowrong must face consequences. Whatever you decide, | support you. | will always stand by your side. But | have one request:punish others if you must, but do not punish yourself. Do not blame yourself for this situation. You cannot control the actions ofothers. Whatever happened was planned by them, not you.”

Horace understood Grace well. Despite her changes, she still had lingering tendencies to take on blame and responsibility forthings that were not her fault, a product of her upbringing and the pressure her parents had instilled in her.

He had to make sure she rid herself of these self-destructive thoughts. Holding her close, his expression darkened, "Why aren'tyou speaking? Grace, if you don't agree, | can't bear to see you burdened with guilt. | can't trust you to handle what comes next."

She sighed silently, then spoke slowly, "I don't disagree. I'm just pondering if what I'm doing is right. If my decision proves wrong, will you still stand by me?"

“Right or wrong, | support you in whatever you choose. Even if it turns out to be wrong, | will accept it. We won't know until wetry, until we act."

Grace couldn't help but smile."You're no different from a foolish ruler! No wonder those misguided leaders lost even their kingdoms."

"Then | shall be a foolish ruler!" he chuckled softly, looking down at Grace in his arms. He continued, "Are you feeling betternow?"

"Yes." Grace nodded lightly, and the two of them returned to Franklin Bay.

Although Camille and Ayan had already retired for the night, they had instructed the staff to open the door for them. When Graceand Horace returned, the servants were still awake and asked if they wanted a late-night snack.

Grace declined, and Horace followed suit. They returned to their rooms, and it was only around eleven at night.

After resting in the early hours of the morning and waking up in the afternoon, Grace and Horace bathed and retired early for thenight.

Grace slept well that night, determined to rest and gather strength to face the challenges of the next day.She dreamedless that night, and awoke to exceptionally good weather the next morning.

Ayan had left early for work, telling Camille, who lingered in bed, "| have some matters to attend to at the company this morning.| may not be back until the afternoon. Grace had a smooth night, but | received a message from Kian. Grace wants me to helpher kidnap Regina's son, Vere."

"Kidnap?" Camille was shocked.

She sat up in bed, her expression heavy. "Did Grace really say that?"

"Yes, she decided on it last night."

Camille's expression turned grave. She squinted slightly, speaking softly, "While what she's doing is not wrong, | can't help but

feel uneasy. Perhaps it's because I'm a mother now, and the idea of parents’ debts affecting their children doesn't sit right with

me."| understand your concern. But you know Grace, she won't harm the child. Isn't that enough?"

"Yes, you're right. | don’t want her to harm Vere. Mostly, | just want her to be okay, and not let these negative emotions burdennovelbin

her."Talk to her when you get up later, alright?" Ayan affectionately pinched her cheek before heading out.

Camille nodded, then waved at Ayan as he left for the office. She, too, decided not to return to sleep.

She tidied up, changed, and went downstairs to have breakfast prepared by the staff. Grace and Horace also joined her. After greeting each other, Horace left for Armstrong Corp without having breakfast. That left Camille and Grace alone at home.
