Chapter 1248: Prepared

"Preston, let's not contact each other anymore. Let's treat each other as strangers. I really don't know

how to interact with you, and the best way is to cut off all contact. That's it!" After saying this, Camille

didn't give Preston any chance to express his opinion. She simply hung up the phone.

In fact, she had wanted to say these words during their previous conversation, but she still held onto a

last trace of softness in her heart, thinking that it hadn't reached the point of cutting off all ties.

However, the repeated incidents had caused her significant internal struggles, which also affected the

people around her. Even if she didn't feel greatly affected herself, it affected the emotions of those

close to her.

She also understood a truth: sometimes, if one person speaks ill of another, it might be a personal

issue. But when a group of people starts saying negative things, there is definitely a problem.

Camille pursed her lips, her expression becoming particularly serious. About a minute after the call

ended, Preston called again. Since it was a landline, she couldn't block his number, but she was certain

it was him calling, so she didn't answer.

She continued to ignore his calls until they eventually stopped.

Sitting in her office, Camille couldn't focus on her work. Her face was filled with indifference and

coldness. She took a deep breath, picked up her phone, and messaged Sienna. She informed Sienna

about her decision to sever ties with Preston. Sienna, being the gossip queen, immediately rushed to

Camille's office.

Camille explained the situation in detail to Sienna, and upon hearing it, Sienna gave her a thumbs up.

Sienna said, "Good for you! You've spoiled him too many times. He really thinks highly of himself.

Honestly, thinking about it makes me laugh. Where does he get the audacity as a grown man?"

Camille didn't correct Sienna's impression but simply said, "I should have done this a long time ago.

Now that it's out in the open, I actually feel quite relieved."

"Right? Some people really aren't worth it. You treat him well, but he only sees you as a fool," Sienna

added.

Sienna had always held a negative impression of Preston because she believed that his relationship

with Camille wasn't just friendship. He pretended to be just a friend while staying by her side, which she

considered hypocritical. Although she didn't want to spoil their relationship and make things awkward,

she believed that maintaining distance and not lingering around each other was the best approach.

Sienna couldn't help but continue to criticize Preston. Her face showed a disdainful expression, and

she laughed, "Now we don't have to worry about your feelings anymore. I used to hold back on

criticizing you too much because I was afraid it would make you feel uncomfortable. But now that we've

severed ties, let's criticize together!"

Camille smiled but didn't say anything. She had no intention of engaging in criticism. Even though they

were no longer friends, she didn't want to go out of her way to criticize others. She simply hoped they

would have no further contact, just as she had told Preston-to treat each other as strangers.

She thought she might feel a bit uneasy, but now she felt more relaxed. There was no weight on her

chest, and she felt light and at ease.

She had thought her words were clear enough, and Preston wouldn't bother her anymore. But Camille

was being too simplistic. Preston had no intention of completely cutting ties with her.

In the afternoon, when Camille finished work, she planned to take a taxi to Simpson Group since

Ayan's driver had other commitments and couldn't bring the car. Ayan had originally said he would

come to pick her up after work to go back to Franklin Bay together, but a last-minute meeting delayed

him, so Camille decided to drive there herself.

As for Sienna, she had dinner plans with Rex today, so they wouldn't be leaving together.

After leaving the company, Camille stood by the roadside and tried to hail a taxi. She initially thought of

booking a ride-hailing service, but it was rush hour, and there was a long queue of over fifty people

waiting. So she decided to flag down a regular taxi by the roadside.

During this time, the area where she lived had the highest concentration of office and commercial

buildings, so there was naturally heavy traffic.

Camille waited for about ten minutes before finally flagging down a taxi. She got into the back seat and

calmly told the driver, "I'm going to Simpson Group."

The driver just made a low sound of acknowledgment and started the car.

Camille sat in the back seat and sent a message to Ayan, saying, "I'm heading to your company now.

There might be some traffic. If you finish work, just wait for me at the office!"

Otherwise, she would have made a wasted trip if she missed him.

She knew Ayan wouldn't reply immediately since he was in a meeting.

Camille held her phone, her gaze shifting to the outside of the window. She looked at the passing trees

and furrowed her brows slightly. She asked in a low voice, "Driver, are we going the wrong way?

Simpson Group is straight ahead, not a turn."

The driver didn't respond. Camille's brows immediately furrowed even more, and her facial expression

became increasingly serious and somber.

Camille spoke again, "Driver, did you hear what I said?"

Her tone was relatively gentle, but there was a sense of urgency in it. However, the driver still ignored

her and continued driving in the wrong direction, which naturally made Camille more anxious.

Camille tightly furrowed her brows, her face showing a serious and gloomy expression. She said,

"Driver, please stop the car. I want to get off here."

But the driver didn't react at all.

Camille instinctively reached out to try to open the door, but it was locked and impossible to open.novelbin

As she spoke, the driver accelerated the car.

Seeing this, Camille finally realized that the driver was a problem. She knew he wouldn't stop the car,

let alone open the door. She had no other choice. The only thing she could do seemed to be to make a

phone call since her phone was still in her hand. So Camille immediately unlocked her phone and tried

to make a call. Updated at Draм??оvels.cоm

This series of actions filled Camille with fear. But before she could react, the driver in front had already

snatched her phone.

The driver wore a mask and sunglasses, clearly prepared for this situation.

Camille stared at the driver in a daze and asked, "Who are you? What do you want to do?"
