Chapter 1187: Cooperation
Chapter 1187: Cooperation
Preston's words were filled with threats, and although his words were clearly meant to be threatening,
he pretended to have a gentle smile. This was the most annoying thing about him.
Preston knew that Mario's feelings for Sienna weren't really that important, because they had all been
together in Flento City for a long time. Women might see through certain things, but men understood
other men very well.
After Preston finished speaking, Camille naturally wanted to speak up for Sienna, but Sienna
immediately extended her hand to stop her from speaking.
Sienna chuckled lightly and asked indifferently, "Mr. Walker, from what I know about your current
situation, things aren't going so well for you, right? If you really have the guts, then go ahead and
spread rumors. After all, it's not just me you'll offend. If you have the courage to challenge the Ward
family and the King family, then go ahead and spread rumors everywhere. Let's see if your rumors or
the combined forces of the Ward family and the King family are more effective."
Sienna didn't give Preston any respect at all, and every word she spoke was enough to leave him
speechless.
She snorted coldly, her tone especially icy, and said, "Some things shouldn't be said casually, and don't
think that you can threaten me with this kind of approach. You should know that I'm just like you, I can
eat my fill without my family being hungry. If you really want to fight, it's not impossible, I'll definitely
accompany you to the end."
Sienna's words carried a faint smile, which surprised Preston. He didn't expect Sienna to be so
fearless.
For a moment, he remained silent for several seconds before casually saying, "Sienna, you're still as
straightforward as ever. I was just joking with you. Why take it so seriously? You and Cami are good
friends, so naturally, you're my friend too. Isn't it normal for friends to joke around? So don't take it to
heart!"
Sienna chuckled lightly, "You're really joking. I don't have the qualification or ability to be friends with
you. After all, my methods aren't as powerful as yours!"
Every word Sienna spoke was sharp and piercing, capable of drawing blood, but she always
maintained a faint smile that made it impossible for anyone to confront her directly. As the saying goes,
don't offend women and villains.
If women and villains were to compete, undoubtedly, women would emerge victorious.
Sienna didn't linger with Preston any longer. After saying everything she wanted to say, without waiting
for Preston's response, she immediately shifted the topic to Camille and said, "Cami is here. If you
have anything to say, say it directly to her!"
The phone was on speaker, and Sienna blinked at Camille, then Camille's voice came through,
"Hello?"
Upon hearing Camille's voice, Preston's tone instantly became gentle. He asked, "Cami, do you have
any other plans tonight? Let's have dinner together. I've made some progress on the task you assigned
me, but I still have some questions. I want to meet and discuss with you."
Camille asked the same question as Sienna, "Is it not allowed to say that?"
Preston replied, "I feel like I didn't explain it clearly enough. If you're available, let's meet in person and
talk!"
Camille instinctively looked at Sienna. In fact, her initial reaction was that she didn't really want to meet
Preston because she didn't feel there was much to discuss. She had wanted to clarify things before,
but after talking to Ayan, she also felt that it wasn't necessary.
So Camille refused and said, "No need. This matter is already in the past. Ayan will take care of the
gossip reporters' issue, and now that he's gone, as long as he's alive, he'll be found eventually, right?
So don't worry about it. Didn't you say things aren't going well for you at Armstrong Corp? You should
focus on Armstrong Corp instead!"
Camille's refusal was straightforward, giving Preston no chance at all. Sienna, who was beside her,
raised her hand and gave Camille a thumbs-up.
But did Preston give up just like that?
Of course not! How could he easily give up like that?
Relentlessly, he said to Camille, "Cami, when you approached me, you were aggressive and
questioning. Now that you say it's not important, you're ending it just like that?"
He chuckled helplessly and continued, "Cami, I don't mean anything else. There are just some things
that I wanted to clarify in front of you. Can't you give me that opportunity?"
Camille frowned and said, "Preston, as I've said, it's already in the past. Some things are no longer
important to me. When I came to you a few days ago, it caused me a lot of trouble, and I found it
extremely annoying. I genuinely wanted to clarify things and find out who was being so petty behind the
scenes. But now that the situation has cooled down, I've also calmed down. If my previous actions
have caused you trouble, then I apologize. You don't need to continue investigating anything. I don't
want to know the outcome of this matter anymore."
Camille took a deep breath. She had said so much just to avoid meeting Preston.
She thought she had made herself clear, but Preston didn't seem to understand.
Preston directly came to the company, probably because there wasn't much work to do at Armstrong
Corp, so he had more free time.
After arriving at the company, Preston went straight to Camille's office. He maintained basic politeness
in his behavior and didn't show excessive emotions. He said to Camille, "I genuinely want to have a
proper conversation with you, Cami. I've expressed my sincerity to this extent. Can you give me a
chance to explain?"
At this point, it was during working hours, and the employees in the company were aware of Preston's
identity and his collaboration with Camille.
But this matter is personal, and it seems difficult to discuss it at the company. Besides, Camille didn't
want all the employees to focus their curiosity on her and Preston. So Camille agreed to meet at the
coffee shop downstairs from the company.
Sienna naturally knew that Camille was meeting Preston, so before they left together, Sienna reminded
them, "Make it quick. Don't forget we're going out to eat later. I've already reserved a table, but they
won't hold it if we're more than half an hour late."
Camille nodded, "Okay, I'll be quick."
There was no reservation for dinner, it was just something Sienna said for Preston to hear.
Camille understood this, so she played along.
Camille followed Preston as they left the company. They took the elevator downstairs, and the coffee
shop was just to the right of the elevator exit.
The coffee shop wasn't crowded at this time, so Preston specifically chose a cozy spot.
Camille ordered a glass of juice. Drinking coffee at this hour would likely keep her awake all night.
Preston, on the other hand, didn't mind and ordered an iced Americano.
Sitting face to face, Camille looked at Preston with a faint gaze and asked, "What did you find out?"
She wanted to get the conversation over with as quickly as possible, but Preston didn't see it that way.
He said, "Cami, our orders haven't even arrived yet, and you're already in a rush to leave?"
Camille instinctively paused, a hint of faintness appearing in her eyes. She looked at Preston and said,
"That's not what I meant. I just don't want to discuss this matter right now. Are we supposed to sit here
and stare at each other?"
Preston gave a shallow smile. He didn't seem to care about the specific topic of conversation. In a low
voice, he said, "Cami, why did you reject my invitation to meet? Do you think I would do something to
you? We agreed to be friends, right? If we're friends, why can't we have basic social interactions?"novelbin
Each of his questions carried an underlying inquiry that Camille couldn't ignore. These inquiries were
also directed at Ayan, but he didn't directly confront the issue like he used to.
