Chapter 1102: Mistreatment

Chapter 1102: Mistreatment

"Not exactly showing off, just stating the facts," Camille said with a serious expression.

Ayan snorted, "Fine, even you know how to hit me where it hurts. Grandpa doesn't care, parents aren't

fond, even my sister avoids me. They thought getting a wife for me would be a solution, but turns out,

she's on their side too."

He said it with such seriousness, as if he were genuinely pitiable, but it only made Camille burst into

laughter.

Camille replied casually, "You're truly pitiful."

"Yeah, I am. So, would you consider being nice to me?" He leaned towards Camille, his voice gradually

becoming husky. The huskiness made Camille instinctively push him away, creating some distance

between them.

Camille's reaction caused Ayan to pause slightly. He asked, "So now I can't even get close?"

Camille pursed her lips, feeling soft at his various antics. She pretended not to understand and replied,

"I'm tired; I want to sleep now."

Without waiting for Ayan's response, she quickly lifted the covers and lay down.

Seeing her act as if she had encountered a ferocious beast, Ayan's expression turned particularly

unpleasant. Especially his pitch-black eyes revealed a hint of incredulity, soon overwhelmed by

resignation. After all, she was the person he loved, what could he do? Spoil her!

Camille made sure he wouldn't do anything else before softly saying, "Goodnight!"

Ayan became increasingly helpless; he couldn't do anything to her. In the end, he could only respond,

"Goodnight."

As they had to accompany old Simpson to the hospital early the next day, everyone went to bed early.

The next morning, Camille and Ayan got up around six o'clock, and after dressing up, they headed

directly to the Simpson's mansion.

When they returned to the Simpson's mansion, old Simpson had just gotten up. Talia had already

instructed the kitchen to prepare breakfast, and since Aria stayed at the mansion last night, breakfastnovelbin

was as lively as dinner.

During breakfast, the atmosphere was harmonious, bringing great joy to old Simpson. At his age, he

didn't ask for much; he only wished for a harmonious family, good health for his loved ones, and

nothing else mattered.

Watching everyone get along so well, old Simpson felt particularly content. Remembering the events of

the previous night, he said, "Last night, I gave Cami a wooden box. You all know about it, right?"

All eyes turned toward old Simpson. Ayan took the opportunity to ask, "What's inside the wooden box?

I begged all night, but she wouldn't show me. Grandpa, you didn't give her some treasure, did you?"

Hearing Ayan's words, old Simpson's expression instantly changed.

Talia and Aria couldn't help but hold back laughter because Ayan had a knack for hitting old Simpson's

sore spots every time.

Fletcher casually glanced at Ayan, knowing that Ayan was intentionally trying to get old Simpson to

speak more. He cooperatively reminded Ayan, "Grandpa can give Cami anything. Why are you so

curious? Let me tell you, don't even think about whatever Grandpa gave Cami. It's for her, not for you."

Aria loves teasing her brother, and she wouldn't miss a good opportunity like this. She quickly spoke

up, "Exactly! How could you do this, brother? Are you jealous that Grandpa gave something to my

sister-in-law? You need to broaden your perspective and not be so petty!"

Ayan glanced at his teasing sister, huffed lightly, and asked, "Don't you want to know what it is?"

"I don't want to know," Aria shook her head without a hint of curiosity. She leaned her head gently on

Talia's shoulder and said to Ayan, "Because I think Grandpa can give anything to Cami, so I'm not

curious at all. I'm not jealous either. Mr. Simpson, you should be more generous. How can you be so

stingy?"

Thanks to Aria's words, Ayan had now transformed into a petty and envious man.

This successfully earned Ayan an eye roll from the old Simpson. He said, "I'm just going to the hospital

for a checkup. If you dare to mistreat Cami, I won't let you off."

Ayan made a surrender gesture. He said to the old Simpson, "Can't you appreciate my virtues? Do you

really think I would mistreat her? And haven't you seen her bullying me?"

"Cami wants to bully you; that's your good fortune. Enjoy it secretly!"

"Sure, sure, I'll enjoy it. Now, let's hurry and eat. We're ready to leave," Ayan quickly changed the topic.

Continuing this conversation would likely lead to a round of family lectures.

After having breakfast, the old Simpson went back to his room to pack, accompanied by the old butler.

Brody and Page also made sure the household staff reconfirmed everything the old Simpson might

need. Except for family members and the old butler, the rest of the staff were unaware that the old

Simpson was going to the hospital; they thought he was just going on a relaxing trip.

Even though the household staff could be trusted, having fewer people know meant fewer chances of

information leaking out.

The elders were busy, leaving Camille, Ayan, and Aria with some free time.

The three of them chatted in the garden. Aria linked her arm with Camille's and whispered, "Sister-in-

law, you need to be cautious with big brother. He has 36 strategies, and you can't fall into his traps."

Camille covered her mouth and chuckled, nodding slightly. She replied, "Okay, I will."

Ayan furrowed his brow, reached out to pull Aria away, and said in a calm tone, "Watch your words.

Don't try to sow discord between me and my wife. Be careful what you say."

Aria immediately complained to Camille, "Sister-in-law, look, he dared to pull me today. Tomorrow, he'll

dare to speak loudly to you. How can we tolerate this? I can hardly stand it anymore."

Aria rarely caused such a commotion, but their sibling banter was something they were used to.

However, Aria was smart; she knew that standing with her brother and sister-in-law was the best choice

after her brother got married.

After all, when sister-in-law is happy, the brother is happy, and when the brother is happy, the Simpson

family is happy.

So, her choice was right.

Camille naturally supported her, looking at Ayan and saying, "Don't mistreat Aria."

Ayan stared at Camille, and he asked, "Mistreat her?"

Camille lightly bit her lip, looking at Aria unconsciously. Who knew Aria immediately said, "I just

remembered I need to tell Grandpa to take a pillow to hospital. I'll go tell Grandpa."

After saying that, she ran faster than a rabbit, leaving only Camille and Ayan in the garden.

Camille finally revealed a faint smile, taking the initiative to approach Ayan. Tilting her head back, her

voice, soft and tender, followed, "I'm not protecting her; I'm just afraid that you might genuinely be

angry with her. After all, she's your sister."

"You're still my wife. Why do you always take others' sides?"

"Isn't she 'others'?"

"Am I 'others'?"

"You're not 'others.'"

"Then who am I?" His deep eyes stared at Camille, an irresistibly handsome face filled with clear

anticipation. He probably didn't want Camille to evade or withdraw. He pressed on, "Tell me, who am

I?"
