Chapter 1067: Slowly

Afterward, Camille spoke softly, "Alright, I understand. I'll be back now."

The call ended here.

Camille remained silent, staring coldly at Page, who had no reaction for quite some time.

Page took the initiative, saying, "I didn't deceive you, did I? Your mother-in-law agreed to dinner at the

Simpson's mansion; otherwise, I wouldn't have come to find you. Cami, you just don't believe me."

Camille didn't respond to her words, maintaining her cold demeanor. She said, "You'd better put away

those ulterior motives. If you keep pushing me too hard, I can't guarantee what I will do."

Camille's threat carried a clear edge of coldness in her eyes.

Once she had spoken, Page's face stiffened, and she stopped talking. Camille didn't listen to any more

of Page's words and walked past her.

The driver was already waiting on the roadside because Camille and Sienna hadn't driven here.

Camille got into the car directly.

In the distance, Page followed but suggested, "Why don't you ride in my car?"

Camille ignored her.

Seeing this, Sienna gave Page a disdainful look and commented, "Mrs. Armstrong, you've already got

Cami to agree to dinner at the Simpson's mansion. Do you need to ask for more? One should be

content; being too greedy can make people lose what they already have."

Page didn't look too pleased, but she didn't say anything more.

The car doors were already closed, and Camille spoke to the driver, "Take me back to the Simpson's

mansion."

The driver nodded, starting the car.

Camille glanced at Sienna and asked, "Do you have plans for the evening? Would it be convenient for

you to have dinner with me at the Simpson's mansion?"

Sienna responded, "I'm free. Rex has a business dinner."

"Alright," Camille said, her tone low and her mood somewhat inexplicably downcast. As a result, her

overall demeanor was not very cheerful.

Seeing Camille like this, Sienna felt a pang of sympathy. She took Camille's hand, leaned gently

against her shoulder, and asked tenderly, "What are you thinking?"

Camille, her voice tinged with a hint of anger, replied, "I'm thinking why someone is so shameless. I

know she has a great favor to me because she gave birth to me, but she didn't raise me and never

showed any motherly affection. Is it really necessary to maintain such a mother-daughter relationship?

She only seeks me out because she thinks I'm useful now. She doesn't care about me or my feelings.

That's what I'm thinking."

Camille was indignant, and her face was full of anger.

Sienna followed along with her and continued the rant, "Exactly, there's no need to maintain this kind of

mother-daughter relationship. Now she only thinks you're valuable and that's why she's bothering you.

So, you don't have to be bothered by her at all. Don't feel like your refusal is being unfilial or heartless.

Just be yourself and know what you are doing. Alright?"

Camille nodded in agreement, and she was genuinely thankful for having a friend like Sienna by her

side. Every time she had self-doubts, Sienna could easily comfort her and keep her from overthinking

or worrying too much.

Camille and Sienna's friendship was about companionship and mutual support when needed.

They arrived at the Simpson's mansion soon.

Camille had the driver wait at the Simpson's mansion, as he would need to take her and Sienna back

later in the evening.

Upon Camille's arrival at the Simpson's mansion, Page had not yet shown up. This gave Camille ample

time to inquire with Talia.

Camille asked, "Mom, why did you agree to let her come over?"

Talia sighed in helplessness, but due to Page being Camille's mother, she couldn't express everything

on her mind. She simply said, "It's just for dinner. Don't worry; nothing will happen. If you find it

inappropriate, I won't agree in the future, okay?"

Camille looked at Talia's hesitations and asked mildly, "Mom, is there something you can't tell me?"

Talia replied, "It's not like that. There's nothing I can't say."

Camille pressed further, "Then why didn't you tell me?"

With a sigh, Talia explained, "It happened at a gathering this afternoon. After returning to Hance, I

hadn't met up with friends, so I had tea with Rex's mother and some old friends. Unexpectedly, she

found out about it somehow, and in front of everyone, she said she hadn't seen Timmy in a long time

and that any misunderstandings between you and her were resolved. She wanted to have dinner at our

place tonight to see Timmy. I couldn't refuse, especially since she's your mother."

Talia's tone held a touch of helplessness and embarrassment.

Given the recent altercation between Brody, Page, and the Simpson family, Page should have kept her

distance from Talia. But Page intentionally came forward, and Talia didn't want to refuse her, especially

considering the friends who were present at the gathering. She didn't want Camille to become thenovelbin

subject of gossip.

Camille immediately visualized the scene upon hearing this.

She sneered, and her eyes reflected deeper anger. She said, "Mom, please don't do this in the future

just because of me. Don't feel like you can't refuse because you think she's my mother, or because you

believe that saying no might have an impact on me. Really, don't do this. I've already made up my

mind. As long as I have a clear conscience and you know what kind of person I am, it's enough."

Camille took a deep breath, struggling to contain her emotions, which had been ignited once again.

Talia quickly reassured Camille, "Just let it go this time, Camille. I invited her over; it's just for dinner.

But next time, no matter what she says, I won't agree anymore."

"Mom, I'm not blaming you. I just don't want you to compromise for my sake," Camille said. She

disliked Page's attempt to force them through these means.

They spoke openly, and Sienna couldn't help clapping her hands, saying, "Can we sit down and talk?"

Camille and Talia exchanged smiles and agreed, "Of course."

The three of them had just taken their seats when Page arrived at the Simpson's mansion in her car.

Upon hearing the sound of the car outside and the butler's reminder, Camille's expression grew

somewhat distant.

However, thanks to the gestures from Talia and Sienna, Camille refrained from showing too much

emotion.

Talia promptly rose from her seat, recognizing the need to maintain appearances.

Page entered the hall on her side, immediately waving and greeting Talia. When she saw Camille and

Sienna already seated on the couch, she chuckled and said, "Cami said we should have a race to see

who gets here first. I thought it should be me. Seems like I'm getting slower as I age. My driving speed

is much slower than these young folks."

Talia only responded with a faint smile and didn't engage further. Camille and Sienna, seated on the

sofa, remained silent.

A servant followed Page, quietly informing her, "Madam, this is brought by Mrs. Armstrong."

Talia looked over and immediately responded, "Well, there's no need to bring gifts."

Page smiled and said, "How could that be? Although we're family, and while the Simpson family lacks

nothing, we should still observe proper etiquette. Besides, Timmy has grown, so I've prepared some

snacks for him, as well as a few toys and clothes. As a grandmother, I bring these as a gesture of

goodwill, so I won't accept any refusal. You must take them."

Talia nodded and said, "If Timmy's Grandma insists, I won't refuse." She then instructed the servant,

"Please take them and store them properly."

The servant nodded in understanding, but instead of taking the items directly upstairs, they were

placed on a nearby cabinet. After all, being an experienced servant in the Simpson's mansion, if Talia

were completely satisfied, she would have them taken upstairs right away. Since she said to accept, it

indicated some level of dissatisfaction.
