Chapter 1061: Concern

Chapter 1061: Concern

Camille bit her lip, trying not to burst into laughter. She said, "I didn't think that way. I just didn't realize

you were considering so much. Either I'm too naive, or you're exceptionally thoughtful."

Camille certainly couldn't admit that she had indeed thought that way just a moment ago.

Ayan let out a soft snort, clearly not believing that it was that simple. His voice held a hint of

amusement as he said, "I genuinely don't want you to be alone with him, so what do you say?"

"No problem, I just think you've thought it through nicely," Camille said, suppressing a smile.

Ayan snorted lightly and said, "Well, let's get going then."

The two of them held hands and left the villa. After getting into the car, Ayan sent a message to Kian,

saying, "I'm heading to Maple Leaves Mansion now. Estimate the time yourself, and give me a call

about an hour after I arrive at Maple Leaves Mansion."

Once Kian had replied, Ayan stepped on the gas and drove away from Franklin Bay.

Camille glanced at him and asked casually, "Are you always this cautious?"

"In exceptional times, caution is paramount," Ayan replied.

"Alright."

Camille simply nodded and didn't disturb Ayan's driving any further.

Upon reaching Maple Leaves Mansion, Ayan and Camille took the elevator to Ayan's apartment in this

building. They hadn't been there for a while. As they held hands and entered the elevator, Camille

couldn't help but say, "It feels good to live here. When Timmy gets a bit older, maybe we should move

back here."

It was a bit smaller, but it felt warm and cozy.

Although their current residence was excellent, it was too large. If one of them was away, it felt empty,

unlike the apartment where even when alone, it felt warm and inviting.

Ayan chuckled lightly and said, "Did we move in together?"

Camille rolled her eyes at him and replied, "No, I moved over here by myself. You just misheard me. I

was only saying that I moved over here, not 'we' moved over here. It's just me."

She said it on purpose. Recently, Ayan had been provoking her quite a bit. Sometimes he would tease

her until she was on the verge of a breakdown before he'd stop.

Watching her get angry, Ayan's smile grew wider, and only during these moments would he truly stop

teasing Camille.

At this point, they had reached Ayan's apartment floor.

As they stepped out of the elevator, Ayan didn't rush to open the door. Instead, he held Camille's hand

and stood still in front of the elevator doors.

Camille looked at him puzzled and asked, "What are you doing?"

"We'll wait here for a moment," he said in a soft voice.

Camille didn't rush either and simply waited with him in silence.

The elevator had now started to descend. Ayan fixed his gaze on the bouncing floor numbers, waiting

for it to display the first floor. But the elevator made several stops on different floors, and a couple of

minutes later, it stopped on another floor. This continued a few times, and it took nearly ten minutes.

Only then did Ayan retract his gaze and lead Camille by the hand toward his apartment.

His actions had made Camille realize his intentions, and she asked softly, "Are you afraid someone is

following us?"

Ayan nodded.

The two entered the apartment, and Horace and Grace were already waiting inside.

Seeing Camille and Ayan, both Horace and Grace turned their attention towards them. Ayan had given

them the password in advance, so Horace had asked Grace to come ahead to prevent being noticed.

He had even arranged a simple disguise for her.

Camille looked at Grace, who appeared visibly thinner. It was probably because she hadn't seen

anyone from the Armstrong family for a long time, coupled with recent events that Grace got teary-eyed

upon seeing Camille.

Grace tightly pressed her lips and blinked, her eyes locked onto Camille as she choked up and called

out in a soft, hoarse voice, "Cami!"

She softly called Camille's name.

Camille responded with a casual, "Are you fine."

Grace asked, "Are you okay? Are you doing well?"

Camille smiled and replied, "I'm doing fine. But you, why have you lost weight? Is Mr. Burris not feeding

you?"

Camille's gaze then shifted to Horace, and she raised an eyebrow, saying, "Mr. Burris, care to explain?"

Horace, of course, knew Camille was joking, but he still played along, saying, "It's my fault. I didn't take

care of her. I'll make amends and try to fatten her up soon."

Camille laughed and said, "I hope you do. I'll be conducting random checks, you know!"

Horace naturally agreed.

Grace quickly chimed in, "Don't blame him. It's my fault. I couldn't eat. It's my personal issue."

Camille couldn't help but find it amusing, saying, "Are you already protecting him?"

Grace blushed slightly and lowered her head, feeling a little embarrassed. Horace watched her

affectionately, and it was evident he cared deeply for Grace. Perhaps Grace wasn't as dependent on

Horace as he was on her? Otherwise, Horace wouldn't have invited her over.

Camille pressed her lips lightly, looking a bit distant. She glanced at Ayan, as both men seemed unsure

of how to approach Grace in this situation.

Ayan eventually broke the silence, saying, "Mr. Burris, let's go to the study and discuss the

collaboration you mentioned earlier. We'll leave the ladies some privacy."

Horace agreed, saying, "Alright." He turned to Grace and said, "You two have a chat."

Grace nodded in agreement, and Horace and Ayan headed to the adjacent study.novelbin

In the living room, only Camille and Grace remained. Their eyes met, and neither of them spoke. They

simply smiled at each other.

Finally, Camille broke the silence, smiling as she asked, "Why so quiet?"

Grace replied, "I see you're happy, but I don't know what to say."

Camille just smiled and probed, "Really, nothing to say? You don't have any questions for me or

something you want to say?"

Grace bit her lip and raised her eyes to meet Camille's. She spoke softly, almost in a whisper, "Actually,

I do."

"Then go ahead and say it."

"I want to ask if the Armstrong family is doing well."

Camille had guessed that this would be the question. So, when Grace asked, Camille's expression

remained unchanged. She simply smiled and said, "You still care about the Armstrong family?"

"Cami, I..."

"I can understand it, actually. They've been very kind to you, there's no doubt about that. I can't push or

expect you to feel the same way about them as I do, just because my feelings toward them have faded.

But there's something I need to tell you now, and I hope you won't get too excited or suddenly decide to

go back to the Armstrong family to find out. Can you do that?" Camille spoke with indifference, her

gaze unwavering. There was no emotion on her face as she said, "But, I hope you understand and

accept what I'm about to tell you."

Camille's expression was deadly serious, and she seemed to carry a heavy weight in her demeanor.

Grace was taken aback and pondered Camille's words carefully. After a moment, she asked in a

hushed tone, "What's going on?"

"First, promise me, can you do that?" Camille's face was intense.

Grace looked somewhat bewildered, but after a brief silence, she nodded and said, "I can. I promise."

"Good." Camille trusted her, and since Grace had agreed, she would surely follow through. Slowly,

Camille began, "Their feelings and relationships aren't as rosy as they appear. They're both using you

and me for their individual gains."

Camille informed Grace about Brody and how she had heard it directly from Page. Worried that Grace

might not believe her, she added, "If it weren't for her telling me all this, I wouldn't casually make things

up. It serves me no purpose. I wouldn't stoop to that level."

Grace was likely in shock, and after Camille's explanation, she remained unresponsive for a while.

Her face turned pale, frozen, and she opened her mouth several times, but no words came out.

Camille maintained her silence, giving Grace the space to process it all.
