Albert tried to grab Hylda again, but lan blocked his hand and said with a dark expression, "Brother-in-law, the decision youmade is very unfair to my sister, yet she didn't say anything harsh to you. How far do you want to push her?’
Albert opened his mouth and could not find a word to say.
Then, lan flatly said, "I'm going to hire the best lawyer for my sister in this lawsuit. We're not going to give up on Sophia andHugo. You should tell your lawyer to be prepared as well.”
Albert started panicking at that time.
lan was not the same man anymore. He had the advantage over Albert since he married into the Moore family. Besides, Albertdid not trust Hylda in keeping the secrets she had been hiding for so many years if their marriage were to be broken.
Albert would be caught in serious trouble if that happened.
When he thought about that, he got so worried that he immediately stepped forward to stop Hylda. Then, he said in a hoarsevoice, "Hylda, don't be mad. I'm foolish and made a stupid decision.
"You've been with me since you were seventeen years old, and I've not given you a proper status or recognition at all. | didn'teven give you a proper wedding ceremony, yet I'm making you go through something like this. I'm such an idiot.’
Hylda's eyes turned red as she choked with sobs. "There's no need to say anything like this. | know I'm getting older, and I'mnothing compared to a young girl in her early twenties. | guess | deserve this for ruining somebody else's family back then, and |accept it. After all, we've been together for many years. Let's not turn things ugly.’
Albert said downheartedly, "What are you talking about? I'm not going to divorce you. | want Sophia, Hugo, and the baby insideof you regardless of gender. Just focus on taking care of your health and quit thinking about giving up on the baby. The child isdestined to be in our family, and I'm going to love the baby just as much regardless if it's a boy or a girl. As for Xenia, I'll give hersome money and tell her to get an abortion. I'll never see her again."
Hylda replied in a hoarse voice, "You're not lying to me, right?’Albert then said, ’I'll go to her now and have the operation arranged."
Hylda sneered inwardly, but her face looked very helpless anyway. "Talk to her nicely and don't make things worse. Otherwise,your image in the company will be affected. A fresh graduate like her only wants to climb the social ladder and take shortcuts.Offer her more money and try your best to satisfy her."
Albert agreed with her and grabbed her hand before he gently said, "Get some rest, then. I'll go over there now.""Okay. Try to settle it peacefully,” Hylda said.
As soon as Albert stepped out of the door, the helpless look on Hylda’s face immediately disappeared, and she said in a deepvoice, "Ian follow him and see if he's really going to do as he said, or he's just trying to fool me."
"Okay," lan said and left.
When Albert came out of the ward, he coincidentally saw Xenia talking on her phone in the hallway.
Xenia saw him, and she was stunned for a moment. Then, she turned around and was about to walk away.
Albert quickly went after her and grabbed her hand. ’Didn't the doctor say there's another checkup in a while? Where are yougoing?"
Xenia anxiously moved her hand away as her lips trembled. It took her a few moments before she could speak. "Does your wifewant me to have an abortion?”novelbin
Albert paused and did not know what to say.
The look on Xenia's face instantly turned dejected when she saw how Albert just kept quiet without saying anything. After a fewseconds, she said in a breathy voice, "Can | have two more days with my baby before | do that?”
Albert felt a bit conflicted, but he hardened his heart as soon as he thought of Hylda. "Get it done as soon as possible foreveryone's sake."
Xenia's face turned pale as her eyelashes trembled slightly. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she held them back without lettingthem roll down.
