“What gathering?" asked Vermont. Marshall paused and said calmly, "Didn't you invite everyone to get together and ask Keeganto contact me?"
Vermont was confused when he heard that. ‘When did | set up a get- together, and why do I not know about it? What is Keeganup to?"
Vermont was the best at helping his best friend out in a lie. "Ah, yes. Are you coming?" He immediately asked.
“rm not sure yet. | have two upcoming lawsuits to settle this week. I'll be there if | finish my work in time," said Marshall. Hepaused momentarily and asked, "Are you guys bringing the girls? Or will it just be us?"
Vermont laughed and said, "It'll just be us, of course. Where's the fun if the girls are there?" This was especially true when Stellawas there. Vermont would play around with Keegan when he was drunk whenever they went out for drinks. However, Stellawould always glare at Vermont for pouring Keegan another drink when she was there.

After hanging up the phone, Felicity stared at Vermont and said, "Why even bother having a girlfriend if having us at yourgathering is no fun?"
Hearing that, Vermont grinned and said, "You can go if you want to. I'm sure it'll be fun with you there."
"I'm already tired from dealing with you every single day, and you want me to deal with you when you're drunk? Are yousuggesting | die faster?"
"You're being dramatic."
Felicity pointed at her dark circles and said, "Look at me! When | went to pick up my delivery earlier, the person at the counterasked if | was alright because, apparently, | looked awful."
That statement amused Vermont, but when he saw the dark circles under Felicity's eyes, he did not laugh. ‘It does look prettybad,’ he thought.
Vermont had always called her over on the grounds of being injured, and she would always respond to his requests out of guilt.
Vermont did not actually want Felicity to work for him; he just wanted to spend more time with her. However, he knew she wouldnot have shown up if he did not use his body as an excuse.

Vermont could not tell her he was fine that quickly, so he said, "The doctor said that my body's still healing and told me to sleepon my back for the next two days. It doesn't hurt that much anymore. They told me | can go on with my daily life but can't takepart in extreme exercise."
Felicity's eyes lit up at the sound of that. "Does that mean you're fine now?"
Vermont was a little disappointed. "The wound had scabbed over, but... | still can't... You know..."
"But why? Isn't the injury healed already?" Felicity was getting a little anxious. "Did the doctor say anything about it? Is it not fullyhealed yet? Or is it a psychological thing?"
