The other party was not easily fooled. “Do you have any loan recommendations?”
‘Fuck!’ Stella cursed inwardly. Keegan handed his phone to her with the information he found onGoogle. Then, Stella continued, “Yes, we currently have an ongoing promotion…”
Stella read what was written on the screen and improvised. “We are a legitimate personal loan servicecompany that doesn’t charge any hidden fees. After the loan is approved, the funds will be directlytransferred to your personal bank account, and the repayment will be directly deducted from the bank.Rest assured, your funds are secure with us. There was a moment of silence on the other end. “Sure,” the person on the other line said indifferentlyand hung up before Stella could say anything.
Stella sighed in relief and turned to ask Keegan, ’You couldn’t tell that it was me, right?”
“Since when did you doubt your acting skills?’ Keegan chuckled.
“Everything was too sudden, so I had to improvise,” Stella said and frowned. “That sounded a little likeHylda, but I’m not 100% sure since the person deliberately lowered their voice.”
“Whoever it is, I bet they won’t know it’s you.”
That being said, Stella still broke out in a sweat. ‘The person on the other line was being very careful.They didn’t even say anything when they first answered the call. I would’ve probably exposed myself if Ihadn’t noticed that Xenia was not holding her phone. Thank God I didn’t send her a text. Otherwise, theperson on the other line would be suspicious of her. Maybe Hylda had been skeptical all along and waswaiting for something to happen,’ she thought as she became worried about Xenia.
Just as she was about to go after her, Keegan held her back and said, “Let Vermont keep an eye onher. You going over there might raise suspicion.”
Stella had no choice but to restrain herself and wait as Keegan contacted Vermont.
Seeing that she furrowed her brows, Keegan whispered, “Don’t worry. She won’t betray us. I’ve alreadysettled things with her family.”
“I’m not worried about that. I’m afraid that something bad might happen to her,” said Stella.
Xenia’s future was ruined, and her family suffered because of her actions. She had immense hatredtoward Albert as much as Stella. Hence, Stella was more worried that Hylda might hurt Xenia ratherthan being stabbed in the back by her.
During the time Xenia faked her pregnancy, people were monitoring her house and checking hermedical records at the hospital. It was undoubtedly Hylda’s doing.
‘That woman is cautious and ruthless. There’s no way she can just sit still, especially since Xeniaannounced that she was pregnant with a boy. She must’ve sent Xenia an invitation to their wedding,’
thought Stella. ‘Even though Xenia is part of my revenge plan, she’s still known as the mistress that gotimpregnated by Albert. It’s clear that Hylda invited Xenia to lure me in and counter our plan.’
