Chapter 493 Clare

“I don’t cook a lot anymore. Let me know if it’s alright,” Clarissa said, since Chanel was there as well.

Damien’s and Chanel’s food had been packed separately. Chanel was under the impression that she

was a third wheel. She felt extraneous and uncomfortable.

“Other than the fish, the rest is mediocre,” Damien commented.

Clarissa was left speechless.

Other than the fish, which she had bought from the university canteen, she had cooked the rest of the

food.

Thinking that Damien must have known this, she was sure he was teasing her to make her feel bad.

Clarissa ignored him and watched Logan, who was sitting by the bedside.

The fish was from the canteen, and Chanel knew this as she always ate at the canteen by herself.

Smiling, she said, “Stop teasing Clarissa. Look, her face has gone red.”

It was nearing December, and the sky darkened early. The ward did not have its curtains closed. The

darkness of the night outside the ward was a stark contrast to Clarissa’s pale face. Her long eyelashes

were distinct, and her eyes were filled with an unworldly innocence, full of youth.

However, she was already a mother.

Clarissa was quite pained by Damien and Chanel’s teasing.

“How nice it is to make fun of me, huh?”

Damien and Chanel exchanged a glance.

It was this one glance that made Chanel fall even more head-over-heels for Damien.

She knew that Damien was looking for Clarissa, rather than herself. Right after their eyes moved away,

Damien went on to staring at Clarissa.

It didn’t matter who was in Chanel’s place. Whether it be her or a completely different woman, Damien

would have exchanged that look regardless.

Chanel suddenly felt a rush of envy for Clarissa.

“How are you going home later? Are you coming with us?” Damien asked Clarissa.

After thinking about it, Clarissa asked, “How long will it take for Logan to finish?”

“About three hours?” Damien looked at Chanel.

Chanel nodded.

“I’ll pass. I still have to get up early tomorrow. Besides, don’t you have to bring Logan upstairs? The

dorms don’t have elevators. Chanel won’t be able to manage on her own. Hurry up and eat. I have to

clean up the packaging afterward,” Clarissa said.

Just then, Clarissa received a Whatsapp message that read, [Clare, are you free? I’m in Florin.]

She stared at the message for a long time, her heart trembling.

In the end, she pretended she wasn’t bothered and didn’t reply.

Damien and Chanel finished their food, and Clarissa cleared up the packaging. Afterwards, she

prepared to leave.

“Do you want me to send you home?” Damien offered.

“It’s alright. I can call for a cab. You take Chanel and Logan home. I’m going home to sleep now.”

Clarissa turned to go after she finished speaking.

“Don’t forget to text me once you get home,” Damien reminded her.

“Sure.”

The message she had received earlier had been sent by Seth Highmore.

Clarissa: [When did you arrive in Florin? Where are you now? I’ll meet you.]

Seth: [I’m in La Monde Hotel for some meetings. Come over. I have some things to show you.]

Clarissa: [Sure! Right away.]

Clarissa got the driver to change directions and head to La Monde Hotel instead.

The hotel was quite a distance from the University of Florin. The buildings were practically on opposite

ends to each other.

When she got to the hotel lobby, Clarissa texted Seth.novelbin

Clarissa: [I’ve arrived. Are you in your room?]

Seth: [I did a search and found that the hotel is quite far from the university. You shouldn’t go back

there tonight. You should get a room for yourself. Get one next to 2036. You can head to the university

from here tomorrow.]

Clarissa: [Got it.]

Without thinking too deeply about it, Clarissa did as Seth suggested and got a room for herself right

opposite of Seth’s.
