Chapter 488 Does It Still Hurt?

Clarissa’s intention was to push Chanel into requesting to borrow the money from Damien by herself.

She never expected that Chanel would push the task back to her.

“Thank you so much, Clarissa!” Chanel was delighted.

Clarissa wondered silently, ‘Chanel probably thinks I’ll definitely be able to borrow the money for her,

doesn’t she?’

It had been the same when Chanel had wanted to foster Logan. She simply needed Clarissa’s help,

and it was done.

Clarissa had no clue whether Chanel had social anxiety, or was just terrified of Damien.

Really, it was her own fault for not keeping her mouth shut and getting involved. She had made it seem

as if she had a great relationship with Damien.

Once Clarissa got to the office, she sent Damien a Whatsapp message.

Clarissa: [The university is building houses priced at a tenth of those on the market. Chanel asked me

to help borrow some money from you.]

Damien: [So you’ll be her guarantor?]

Clarissa was dumbfounded.

He and Chanel had each other’s numbers, but they insisted on making her the middle person. It was

such a pain!

Clarissa: [I’m only asking because we bumped into each other and she made me do it. Are you lending

her the money or not?]

Damien: [Talk about it later.]

After such a response from Damien, Clarissa could only text Chanel back.

Clarissa: [He says he’ll talk about it later. See, you should’ve asked yourself! You might have already

gotten an answer. I don’t have any sway over him.]

Chanel stared at the message.

She truly wanted to buy a house, but she couldn’t put aside her pride to ask Damien for money, even

though she also wanted to use this as an excuse to contact Damien.

If it was just her alone, she would be fine living in Indigo Hall. However, now she had a child with her.

Since the child wasn’t even hers, gossip was difficult to avoid. Chanel didn’t want to be the object of

people’s criticisms.

That was why she wanted to live outside of campus.

She had already sold the place she had bought with her ex-husband and donated the money to the

school her ex-husband had once taught.

At that time, she thought that she wouldn’t remarry and wouldn’t need all that money.

Although her ex-husband cheated on her, Chanel didn’t hold it against him.

On Wednesday, Clarissa walked onto the rostrum in a suitable dress, with a confident and jovial smile

on her face.

She wore light makeup that gave her an energized look.

After connecting her phone to the computer, she started her lecture.

Watching Clarissa today, Caleb was suddenly struck by new feelings.

His heart skipped a beat.

Only, it didn’t matter that he was enamored by her.

The back row was occupied by a line of teachers, with Chanel among them. They looked very friendly

with each other.

Clarissa started her lecture, using the computer to broadcast a video about a case study from her

phone.

She had no choice but to play it from her phone, as the case study wasn’t something found online and

had been specially made by Clarissa herself.novelbin

Suddenly, the sound from the video lowered and a message popped up on the screen.

Damien: [Does it still hurt?]

Everyone saw this.

Of course, there were many explanations for a question like “does it still hurt”, such as whether one’s

back or waist still hurts.

However, all of the postgraduate students only had one explanation in their heads. They thought

Damien was asking if Clarissa was still hurting after sex.

After all, they were all in their twenties. They knew what went on behind closed doors.

Besides, Lisa had already spread the news of Clarissa’s return to Genovia throughout the entire

campus. Everyone knew Miss Johnson was at home that day and couldn’t get up…

The students all wanted to snicker, but they were too embarrassed to do so when they recalled the row

of teachers sitting behind them.

Chanel saw the message as well, but she didn’t think too much about it. She had always been a more

conservative woman when it came to sex. At the same time, she had rarely experienced anything

enjoyable in that arena from her ex-husband. As such, she didn’t have many fantasies when it came to

this.

But when she saw the teachers beside her ducking their heads, she finally came to the same

conclusion after a beat.

It seemed the two had slept together again.

When she saw the message, Clarissa’s heartbeat halted and she froze. She even wondered if Damien

was purposely messing with her. But since this was an open lecture, she could only pretend that

nothing had happened and proceed to her next talking points.

With her back to the projector on the rostrum, she was just about to unplug her phone when the

computer showed another of Damien’s messages.

Damien: [I’m going to Florin tomorrow.]

Clarissa ignored that too.
