Chapter 464 Whatever It Was, the Child Wasn’t His

Damien went to the police station with the intention to see Lucy.

Lucy was wearing a prison uniform, and her face was bare. She looked weak and ashen.

As a young lady in her prime, she stood out like a sore thumb.

“Who does the baby belong to?” Damien asked.

The police had asked Lucy the same question when they interrogated her earlier. She claimed she had

gotten pregnant after having an affair with someone, but she refused to say who the father was.

She and Madelynn got into a fight when Madelynn brought some things to her on Damien’s behalf, and

the murder was just an accident.

The police guessed that Damien was the father, so they summoned him from Florin and had even had

a DNA test done. However, the results showed that Damien and the child weren’t related at all.

Damien told them he had asked someone to bring the things to Lucy because he knew that it wasn’t

easy for Lucy to raise a child on her own. Lucy had been to his house before, and they could be

considered acquaintances.

“He’s yours.” Lucy’s tone was mild but resolute.

Damien snorted. “Continue lying. Do you know that Madelynn’s still unconscious?”

Lucy’s expression shifted a little. Her lips trembled, but she didn’t say a word.

“It’s very likely that she’s going to die. At that time, you’ll be tried for second-degree murder and you’ll

probably be sentenced to life. Your son will be taken away by social services and will probably end up

getting bullied and beaten up. With a mother like you, it’s very likely he’ll grow up to be a murderer as

well. If you tell me the truth, I’ll consider giving you a hand.”

Lucy’s expression changed. Something else had occurred to her—if Madelynn survived, Buddy would

be subject to Madelynn’s revenge.

“Are you going to raise Buddy for me?”

Damien laughed. “Think before you speak.”

“I only have one request—raise Buddy for me. If you don’t, someone bad’s going to use him.”

“Someone bad? Who are you referring to?”novelbin

A stubborn look crept onto Lucy’s face. She helped Iris out for money, which was already shameful

enough. Now, she had murdered someone. She made one wrong move, and everything else had gone

wrong after that.

“No one in particular. I just meant bad people in general. Either you raise him, or you can find a good

family to take him in.”

“I’ll have to see how it goes.”

“Who are you thinking of?”

“That’s not something you need to concern yourself with.”

Lucy seemed to have made up her mind not to tell Damien the truth. At the thought of her possibly

spending the rest of her life in prison and losing the right to her son, however, she faltered. If Damien

was telling the truth, finding Buddy a good family wasn’t too bad of an alternative. It was better than him

being sent to an orphanage.

After a moment’s consideration, she finally confessed. “The child belongs to my brother, Kristoff. After

he was diagnosed with uremia, his girlfriend found out that she was pregnant. She wanted to get rid of

the baby, but I gave her some money and told her to keep him. He’s the only descendant of the Fur

family.”

“Where’d you get the money from?”

“Is that any of your business? I earned and saved it with my own two hands.”

Damien then stood up to leave.

“President Lawrence, are you going to stick to your word?”

“I’ll come and let you know when I find a suitable family.”

“Can’t you raise him?”

“Dream on.” He had enough on his plate as it was.

After that, he left without looking back.

The reason he agreed to help Lucy find a suitable family was because she wouldn’t be locked up for

life. She hadn’t truly done anything wrong.

At least now, he knew who her baby really belonged to. Whatever it was, the child wasn’t his.
