Chapter 461 Their Daughter, Ash

At 10:00 a.m. the next day, they headed to the south side.

Clarissa didn’t have a car, nor did she know how to drive. Thus, she took a taxi there.

It had yet to rain when she left, but it was drizzling by the time she arrived. She had to squint to see

through the rain, and she saw Caleb standing next to Charles. He was taking down notes seriously,

and he only glanced at her.

Whatever had happened between her and Caleb had gone out as quickly as the fireworks she had set

off at Hill Villa all those years ago.

Clarissa and the others followed Charles around as he described the plot of land to them. She held an

umbrella in one hand and put the other in her pocket.

There was a woman in her forties there as well, and she was probably Alex. She didn’t know Clarissa,

and Clarissa had never seen her before either. She seemed to be a little distant, seeing as she was the

only person from New East Corporation present.

“You guys shouldn’t underestimate the south side. It has a lot of potential and a bright future ahead!

Once the residential area is set up, it’ll be followed by all sorts of facilities, and the prices will shoot up.

It wasn’t easy for me to get this plot of land…”

Clarissa was listening to Charles when she noticed a figure approaching them.

It was Damien.

He strode toward them in the rain.

Clarissa was suddenly reminded of the time when he approached her in the snow. Her heart jolted.

She had always thought that she was long past the age of being mushy, but her heart still reacted to

him the way it did when she was young and innocent.

Time had changed a lot of things, but certain things remained the same.

“President Lawrence is here,” Alex said. “Should we wait till he gets here before continuing?”

“Sure.”

Clarissa looked down at her shoes. She kicked the earth around, bored.

When Damien came close to them, she took in what he was wearing—a waterproof coat in brown. The

raindrops rolled right off him. It was obvious that it was of good quality.

He still didn’t have an umbrella with him.

While she stared at him dazedly, he glanced at her.

Clarissa quickly averted her gaze.

“You don’t have an umbrella, President Lawrence? I have one here,” Alex said.

“It’s fine,” Damien said. “Let’s continue. This place is pretty big.”

“Yes. We intend to turn this into the biggest neighborhood in Florin. It’ll come with its own shopping mall

and hospital. We haven’t thought of a name yet, though. Why don’t you do the honors?” Charles said.

The presidents of the two companies walked ahead while the rest of them followed.

“A name?” Damien gave it some thought. “How about Ashland?”

He turned to look at Charles. Charles stopped to think about Damien’s suggestion.

Damien could see Clarissa out of the corner of his eye.

She skidded to a stop and clenched her fists, looking pale.

Ashland… Ash…

He was proposing to name the neighborhood Ashland. By the time everything was set up, Ashland

would be the biggest neighborhood in Florin. There would also be Ashland Hospital and Ashland Mall…

Ash was the name of their daughter that had been stillborn.

She was also the daughter that Clarissa had been looking forward to meeting. Clarissa’s heart ached

terribly whenever she thought about Ash.

“That’s a pretty good name, President Lawrence. Is it something that you already had in mind?”

Charles asked cheerily.

“I came up with it a few years ago,” Damien answered.

Clarissa had become rather absentminded the moment Damien had mentioned Ashland. She followed

them mechanically, her mind blank.novelbin

Damien’s phone rang.

“Sorry, I have to take a call,” he said to Charles.

“Please, feel free.”

Damien stepped aside. It was a call from his assistant.

“President Lawrence, something’s happened!”
