Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 247

Chapter 247 Haven’t Ate These at Home Before?

Clarissa was briefly stunned. Then, she walked out.

Mrs. Faber made soup, fish, meatballs, and some vegetables for dinner. It was a

feast.

“Oh, it’s so good! I haven’t had such a feast in a long time,” Clarissa said happily to Mrs. Faber.

“What? You haven’t had this at his house either?” Damien asked sarcastically.

Clarissa fell silent at his rebuttal, and quietly ate from her bowl. Some time later, she said, “I’m going to

Green City Facilities and Arisona Construction tomorrow. I’ve informed Leah. Just letting you know.”

After all, Damien owned the car and hired the driver. It was appropriate that she inform him about her

plan. “Okay,” Damien answered nonchalantly. “Let Mrs. Faber follow you.” “Sure.” Clarissa agreed.

Clarissa returned to her room after she finished her meal. She wrote in her journal, and then went to

bed. When she lay down in bed, she received a text from Rebecca. Rebecca: (Clarissa, did you know?

Nicole got arrested for commercial espionage!]

Clarissa: (What? Wasn’t she working in a supporting role?]

Clarissa sat up from her bed in shock.

Rebecca: (Yeah! I was baffled too. I don’t know how she became a spy. Maybe she offended

someone.) Clarissa lay in bed again. She had a vague idea about the whole thing. Could Damien be

the one behind this? But Nicole’s never angered him at all! Whenever a horrible or unexplainable thing

such as this happened, Damien would be the first that came to Clarissa’s mind. After all, he was

powerful and influential. Angering him would only invite a catastrophe.

Clarissa woke up at nine in the morning the next day. By the time she was up, she did not see Damien

around. Meanwhile, Mrs. Faber made breakfast for Clarissa.

At this point, Clarissa had grown very fond of middle-aged women. Maybe the change happened after

Theresa was suddenly gone. Clarissa became attached to Mrs. Faber, so their relationship grew closer.

After breakfast, Clarissa received a message from Leah, who said she was waiting downstairs. Mrs.

Faber helped Clarissa get into the car. Clarissa had been staying home the entire time. It was good to

go for a walk and get some air, rather than feeling depressed from being cooped up at home all the

time.

As a female driver, Leah was undoubtedly attentive and chose a scenic road on their journey. She took

the river route as she drove Clarissa to Green City Facilities

Clarissa could see the winter sun’s reflection sparkling on the surface of the river. It soared her mood.

“Are you happy?” Mrs. Faber was reading Clarissa’s expressions.

“Yeah.” Clarissa nodded with a smile, looking like a satisfied child.

Clarissa was in a good mood, which led to a good discussion with her prospects from the Green City

Facilities. Green City Facilities was relatively small, so the director awarded Clarissa the project on the

spot. Clarissa was overjoyed.

After a quick lunch with Mrs. Faber, Clarissa went to Arisona Construction.

Whenever Clarissa was out for a business meeting, she usually let Mrs. Faber wait

for her in the lobby downstairs.

Clarissa went up to the office by herself.

Mr. Lark, the CFO of Arisona Construction, was a middle-aged man in his forties. He frowned when he

saw Clarissa’s young age and pregnant tummy.

“You must be Miss Johnson, a partner from First. You’re very young. How many years of experience do

you have?” The disdain in Mr. Lark’s eyes was evident. Clarissa could tell what he implied by asking

her how many years of experience she had. He found her too young and unreliable. “Two years,”

Clarissa said honestly. She had only worked for two years, including her internship. “Oh? Two years?”

Mr. Lark showed even more contempt. “Two years to be a partner? We’re a big company. How can we

let a young girl do the auditing? Do you know that you need to be meticulous in finance?”

“I know. In my previous projects – ” Clarissa wanted to say that she had never made any mistakes in

her past projects, but Mr. Lark cut her off without giving her a chance to speak. “What’s your education

level?” Mr. Lark raised his hand, interrupting Clarissa

before she could finish. Clarissa gulped. “Bachelor’s degree.”

“Bachelor’s degree? You look like you’re about to have a baby. You’re due soon, right? You fell in love

while studying and had a baby right after you graduated. How can I entrust Arisona Construction in

your hands? You may leave, Miss Johnson.” After that, Mr. Lark left.

Clarissa sat there for a long time to calm her raging emotions. As a partner, her job scope was more

than working on her own projects. She had to look for new projects and secure deals for the firm.novelbin

Speaking to prospects and securing the job wasn’t easy, but she had to do it.

The people in her firm would find her incompetent if she coulsn’t overcome the setbacks. Besides,

everyone was already criticizing her education. They said she climbed the ladder because of her

connection to Joseph.

In contrast, her days working in New East Corporation were the most comfortable. However, she

couldn’t stay in her comfort zone forever.
