Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 216

Chapter 216 No Way!

Clarissa stood there barefoot.

“Clarissa, it was an accident. The police have already investigated the whole thing, and they concluded

that it was just an accident.” Damien hugged her, afraid that she would collapse on the floor.

“It wasn’t an accident! Definitely not! Why didn’t the police question me?” Damien could see her hatred

and resentment through her tears. “She said that she was going to buy me spaghetti after she looked

at the house. She wouldn’t have gotten into an accident!”

“You fainted,” Damien said.

“Where’s my mom? I want to see her!” She rushed out of the room.

Once again, Damien wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back to the bed forcefully.

“You need to calm down first.” He watched her, now quiet.

“Where’s my mom?!” she asked.

“Elmwood Cemetery.”novelbin

When Clarissa heard this, she broke down completely. She burst into tears and cried, “Mom! Mom,

mom…”

Then, she started pounding Damien’s chest. “What happened to my mother that day?! Tell

me!”

“It was an accident!” He kept emphasizing the word “accident”.

However, Clarissa didn’t believe him.

She knew she was no match for him when it came to playing mind games. If he had made up his mind

not to tell her, she definitely wouldn’t be able to get anything out of him.

“I’m not going to work for the next few days. I’ll stay at home with you,” Damien said.

She ignored him and turned away, pretending to sleep. Damien was basically putting her under house

arrest. There was nothing she could do, and there was no way for her to find out the truth.

She knew she couldn’t go against him at the moment.

Clarissa was only allowed to move around the bedroom.

Grandpa Lawrence had come up to see her. He was also sad at Theresa’s passing.

“Clary, you need to take care of yourself. At least you still have Damien.” He patted her hand,

She couldn’t say anything to him. There was one thing she knew for sure, though. Damien definitely

had something to do with her mother’s death, and she couldn’t fully trust him.

He hadn’t appeared at that apartment for no reason. Another three days passed. Clarissa’s emotions

slowly started to settle, and she started to eat.

One day, she said to Damien, “I want to see my mom.”

Her face was pale and haggard, and her lips were bloodless. “I’ll go with you.” “Okay. Also, can you

give me my phone now?” she asked.

Damien brought her phone over.

She’d received a lot of WhatsApp messages over the past few days. They were all unread.

Joseph, Lily, Rebecca…

They were all offering their condolences.

Connie had texted her as well. The conversation was very close to the top of the list, which meant that

they had spoken recently. However, Damien had deleted her latest messages.

He had probably gone through all the messages before this.

He knew that Theresa had wanted to bring Clarissa out for spaghetti, so he didn’t allow Mrs. Faber to

cook it.

Clarissa washed up, and then went to Elmwood Cemetery with Damien.

She hadn’t stepped out of the house for days, and when the sun shone down on her face, she

instinctively blocked it with her hand.

The weather was hot, but it was ice-cold in the cemetery.

Clarissa kneeled down in front of her mother’s grave and ran a hand over the tombstone.

Damien stood to one side.

“Mom, you told me we were going to go have spaghetti after you were done viewing the apartment.

How can you be gone in the blink of an eye? I waited for you to wake up for six years. I wanted you to

see me become a certified public accountant, have kids, grow old, and I wanted you to nag me even

when I was sixty years old. How happy we’d be! But why have you left me behind?”

She couldn’t hold her tears back anymore.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t say anything else because of Damien’s presence.

In truth, she wanted nothing more than to ask Theresa what had happened that day. Why was Damien

there as well?

She remembered that he had called her and told her that he was going to look for Patrick Universal

Real Estate belonged to Patrick, and his hair had turned white overnight because of the whole incident

involving it.

Clarissa knew that she was missing a piece of the puzzle. So, she was no longer going to give Damien

her heart. On the way back, she told him that she wanted to spend a few days at Theresa’s place. “I’ll

go with you,” he said.

“There’s no need. I want to be on my own.”

“No!” Damien shot her down without hesitation.

There was no room for discussion. Clarissa turned away from him. He was probably afraid she would

dig up more information. Damien had the chauffeur drive them to Theresa’s neighborhood.

When Clarissa tried to open the door, she found that she couldn’t.

“Who’s there?” Emily’s voice rang out.

She opened the door to see Clarissa standing there. She was about to cross her arms over her chest

and mock Clarissa, but her attitude changed completely when she saw Damien standing behind

Clarissa.

“Come in, come in,” Emily said. “Clarissa, are you going to stay here? Your brother and I are staying in

your mother’s room now, so you can sleep in your own room. Your brother’s at work. I didn’t expect

something like that to happen to mom.”

Emily knew very well what had happened. Most likely, Patrick had shoved Theresa off the building. Her

embellishments had worked perfectly, successfully misleading Patrick into thinking that Theresa was

her own mother, Madam Zell.

Emily pretended to weep.

“You and Luke are going to stay at a hotel for a few days. I’ll pay for it,” Damien said to Emily coldly.

“Are you going to stay here as well?” She looked at Damien greedily.

“Yes.”

“Alright, then.” Emily was disappointed. She would’ve loved to live under the same roof as Damien and

see what he was like in daily life. Every night, she had to imagine that Luke was Damien before she

could fall asleep. It would take her mind off Luke’s perverseness. She went back to the room and

packed their things up. “I’ll let you know once I found a hotel, President Lawrence.” “No need. I’ll

transfer the money directly to Luke.” Damien ruined her plan to get his number. Embarrassed, Emily

quickly left.
