Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 152

Chapter 152 What’s Wrong? Do You Like Her?

An annoyed Damien lit up a cigarette during the meeting.

Noticing that Damien was in a bad mood, Ray asked, “Damien, do you want to proceed with the

meeting tomorrow?”

“It’s fine, we can continue.”

Ray broke down the steps needed to reform the finance department while providing new guidelines for

other departments to follow.

When everyone got off work, the entire company had already known about Clarissa and Damien’s

argument.

That was because Clarissa was shouting very loudly in the office during the fight.

Those who managed to eavesdrop on their conversation said that Clarissa was threatening Damien

with a divorce.

As for the exact details, nobody knew about it.

It was the first time in history that someone dared to confront Damien in a rude manner, in his own

office to boot.

Lily: Clarissa, how bold of you to strike an argument with President Lawrence! Why did you threaten to

file for a divorce?]

Still at work, Clarissa ignored the message. After all, it was a matter of time before they got separated

from each other.

However, Clarissa suddenly thought about accompanying her mother back to Pentatone County. Since

she couldn’t ask Damien for help anymore, she had to depend on other people for transport.

Clarissa: (Lily, what are you planning to do this Easter?]

Lily: [l’m not planning on doing anything. I’ll probably stay at home to binge my drama. I don’t think my

relationship with Landon is going anywhere. It’s obvious he doesn’t like me. I want to ask him out, but I

can’t think of any excuses.)

Clarissa: (My mom wanted me to accompany her to go back to my grandmother’s place in Pentatone

County. She can’t walk, so boarding the bus will be a problem. Can you ask Landon if he can drive us

there?)

Clarissa felt embarrassed asking them for favors. Since she couldn’t drive, she had planned to borrow

a car and ask Lily to drive them back.

Now that Lily was obviously in a pinch, Clarissa proposed that plan, hoping to find an opportunity to

build rapport between Landon and Lily.

Lily: (I can help you with that. I’ll just tell him that your mother has difficulty walking. I’m sure he’ll

volunteer to help.)

When they got off work, Clarissa and Lily walked to the entrance while talking about their plans to go

back to Pentatone County.

Coincidentally, Damien’s car passed through the entrance. Ray was inside the car with him.

Since they used to attend the same school and were now colleagues, it was only natural for them to go

for a drink after work.

When Damien saw Clarissa, he averted his gaze and closed his eyes,

“That woman,” Ray said out loud without realizing it

“What’s wrong?” Damien looked in Ray’s direction and landed his gaze on Clarissa once again.

He thought hatefully. ‘As always, she’s attracting attention again.’

“I think I’ve seen her somewhere before,” Ray said.

He frowned as he tried hard to dig her out from his memory

‘What’s wrong? Do you like her?” Damien’s smile was laced with malice.

His words didn’t reflect his actual feelings at all.

“No, I mean, I’ve seen her before.”

“Oh, really? Where?” Damien smiled reluctantly.

“I can’t remember.”

“You’re lying,” Damien replied almost instantly.

Normally, men would try to flirt with women using that excuse.novelbin

“Damien, do you know her name?” Ray asked.

“Her? Her name is Clarissa Johnson,” Damien sized her up. Right now, she was still talking to Lily.

“Oh, she’s your wife!” Ray instantly felt awkward. “I was about to fall into your trap. She’s not going

home with you today?”

Ray couldn’t bring himself to address Clarissa as Mrs. Lawrence. It just didn’t seem right.

“No, she’s going back to her mother’s place today.” Damien drove away. Through his rearview mirror,

he could see Clarissa waiting anxiously at the bus stop with a frown.

Damien sneered as he thought, I’m sure she’s very worried about Joseph.

Speaking of Joseph, Damien sent Luke a Whatsapp message.

Damien: (Have you sent the pictures to the media outlets?]

His phone vibrated almost instantly.

Luke: (Yes, I’ve done it. It’ll show up in the headlines any moment now.)

Luke: (I want to ask you another thing. Do you happen to have any job vacancies in your marketing

department?)

Damien frowned. To be asking something from Damien that blatantly, Luke must’ve thought that he

deserved the recognition.

Damien couldn’t refuse Luke, knowing full well that he had to return the favor one day.

After all, he already knew that Luke was the type to take advantage of people.

Damien: (Yes, we do have vacancies.]

Since Luke’s friends wouldn’t stray far from his rotten personality, Damien thought of giving his friend a

job as a mere salesperson.

After all, New East Corporation hired salespersons almost every day.

Luke: (I have a cousin who wishes to work at New East Corporation. Her name is Connie Hale, and

she’s

working as a salesgirl at a local paper mill in Pentatone County. Can you help her secure a job at New

East?)

Damien: (Sure, ask her to check in with us after the holidays.)

Luke: (Does that mean she doesn’t have to go through the interview process?] Damien: (There’s no

need to.) Luke: (Alright.)
