Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 140

Chapter 140 Is Your Husband Really That Weak? By the time Damien went upstairs, Clarissa was

already leaning against the bedpost while reading a book

She snuck a peek in his direction. His mood hadn’t improved at all over the past few days.

“Why are you in such a bad mood lately?”

After Damien got into the bed, Clarissa scooted over and stared into his eyes as she asked that

question.

In the past, Damien assumed the reason she kept staring at his eyes was because she loved him.

Now, however, he knew she was desperately trying to find anything that resembled Steven within him.

“Why do you keep staring at my eyes?” he chided.

“…” Clarissa was speechless. She couldn’t say anything at all.

Damien quickly pinned her down with his weight. After he turned off the lights, various images of

Clarissa popped up in front of his eyes. She would always stare into his eyes. When she woke up, she

would request clam chowder for breakfast. Her favorite dish to make so far was the shepherd’s pie.

She would also imagine that Damien only fell in love with that particular dish because he had Steven’s

eyes.

Damien didn’t know if he was Damien or Steven to her…

In the past, he made fun of her purely out of spite. Now, he couldn’t help but find his life ironic.

Damien got his revenge by tormenting Clarissa that night.

The next day, Clarissa was the only one going to work. Damien chose to stay at home.

“Are you sick?” Clarissa asked in concern, despite the fact that she had gone through a torturous night.

“Do I look that weak to you?” Damien snapped. “Do you know how to drive? If you do, go ahead and

pick a car of your liking in the garage. It’s difficult to flag a cab around these parts.”

“No. I don’t have my license yet.”

In the past, Clarissa didn’t have much money on her. It was already difficult enough to cough up

enough money for Theresa’s medical bills. Even if she obtained her license, she knew it wasnovelbin

impossible to buy a car in such a short period of time.

After Clarissa left, Damien asked for Luke’s number from his assistant. Then, he told Luke to drop by

the villa for a quick visit.

The reason he chose to gift Luke a house was not only due to the fact that Luke’s father was his savior,

but because it was also highly beneficial to enlist Luke as one of his subordinates. At least, incidents

like that particularly embarrassing one in the lobby wouldn’t repeat in the future.

Half an hour later, Luke arrived at the Lawrence residence. He was quick to shower Damien with

respect. “What’s up?”

“What’s the relationship between Clarissa and Joseph?” Damien leaned against the couch, his leas

crossed elegantly.

Luke had already received his share of benefits from Damien. That house was fully furnished. Not to

mention, the decorations were lavish and luxurious. All he needed to do was to move his luggage into

the house and claim it as his. The benefits that Joseph promised him, however, were all imaginary

possibilities.

Luke was the type of person who would only look at the benefits.

“It’s just a one-sided crush coming from Joseph. Clarissa isn’t interested in him at all,” Luke explained.

“She admires strong and capable people like you.”

“Did Clarissa tell Joseph anything regarding my company?” Damien continued.

“Are you referring to the director who got taken away from your company? No, she didn’t say anything

at all. My mom just woke up that day, so Clarissa was explaining to her the reason you didn’t go visit

her. She was just trying to defend you, yeah? Otherwise, my mom would’ve complained about you

since you weren’t there. Joseph and I were there as well. Maybe he overheard their conversation,”

Luke replied.

Damien’s anger was dispelled on the spot.

Luke started explaining the incident of Nicole visiting Great West Accounting Firm, and how Rebecca

got alienated by everyone there.

“In the future, do your best to pair Joseph and Nicole together.” Damien lifted his head, dark pools

swirling in his eyes as he stared at Luke. “I don’t care how you do it, just get it done.”

Luke pondered for a moment. “No problem. Leave it to me.”

“If you run into any problems in the future, come find me.”

“Alright!” Luke agreed heartily.

After Luke left the mansion, Madelynn was next to arrive.

“I just went to your company, but your secretary said you’re not working today. You’re a very difficult

person to meet, you know,” she complained in a spoiled tone, setting her bag on the couch.

Damien looked at Madelynn’s fiery red lips. It was as if he could detect her vile nature bubbling from

within

“Why did you come looking for me all of a sudden? You didn’t even give me a call before coming here.”

Damien sounded the same as usual, but if one listened properly, a strong hint of cold disgust could be

detected in his tone.

However, Madelynn failed to pick it up. “I was afraid that if I called you, you might deny me entry,”

Madelynn replied, shooting a discreet glance in the direction of Grandpa Lawrence’s room.

She wasn’t here to look for Damien per se. Her true purpose was to find out how Grandpa Lawrence

was doing. Unexpectedly, Damien was at home today.

“How so?”

“Aren’t you a sly one? I have an important movie to shoot in the near future, but the original investor

withdrew their funds all of a sudden. I told the producer I can convince a new investor to join the

bandwagon. C’mon, Damien! I’ve already promised him that I’ll definitely be able to rope you in. You

need to help me fulfill my promise,” Madelynn said.

“I’ll need to hold a conference to discuss this with the other higher-ups,” Damien replied.

“Aren’t you supposed to be the one in charge? You weren’t like this before!”

“The potential investment in a new drama or movie is a new project for the company. It’s beyond the

company’s business scope,” Damien refuted.

Madelynn pretended to be disappointed.

She did try to convince Damien to invest in a drama or movie a couple of times in the past, but the

latter was naturally vigilant and careful. He would never touch an area he wasn’t familiar with. Then

again, he could be uninterested in the movie industry.

Thus, Madelynn knew that whatever she said was just an excuse.

“Well, I haven’t greeted Grandpa Lawrence today. Give me a moment.” After that, Madelynn headed

toward Grandpa Lawrence’s room.
